As everyone is suggesting, you might be using Saladin wrong. I can understand Alex dieing somewhat quickly, but Saladin is one of the more durable generals you can get. In fact, he can probably live longer than Suleiman due to logistics, and the former's lack thereof and braveness. I advise rethinking your strategies a bit, friend. As a person who never ever uses free Saladin, I'm surprised he is so much better than Suleiman, the gold cavalry with cover. I understand if it amounts to nothing, but technically doesn't he have regen with a lucky crown, or god forbid, a paladins ring? Li Shimin is pretty durable with level 5 logistics.... (lol, but I think Napoleon is the way to go, with Rumor. Shimin is durable but has nothing special prior to fire dragon, still no skill) Saladin is a fantastic cavalry general. Never dies, and his health and attack were starting to rival Attila. MY Atilla, who has 700 attack power in Discovery Age.

I think that it is vital to be consistent in this game... Suleiman has a future only in a cavalry-emphasized team with a strong support of archers (Nobunaga-Nelson, Nobunaga-Li or even Li-Mocti). Without cav "Commanders" Suleiman with all his defensive bonuses is not simply strong enough for lvl 6 campaigns (let alone Panama or Volgograd). So 1 or 2 cav Commanders are essential. One is Attila for sure. But who will be another one? As far as I remember only Kanue had desire to take Asoka (but it hasn't been heard of his results lately) and von Manstein was Asoka's proponent (but he had chosen in the end archer's team instead). In other tactical schemes there is simply no place for Suleiman. I do not use Saladin (that means playing without cavalry altogether) for ages not because he is "bad", but because other generals will be more useful on the battlefield...

Have no idea why. Imo it is quite weak skill, cheap yes, but weak. Giving some boost but definetely can't beat skills like Leadership, Braveness or Logistics. So Edward will definetely be better than Asoka in the cavalry team where You can't have a lot of Leadership generals to debuff everyone around.

The big problem with the second Commander in cav set-up is the simple fact that both Edward and Asoka do not have very important skills for cavalry: Braveness and/or Logistics/Plunder. That means the player always will be preoccupied with a thought how to keep them alive. Edward's leadership offers some tactical possibilities, but it does not solve that big problem. And Asoka imo is a weaker version of Jhansi (at least Jhasi can attack without retaliation and has Plunder)...

I got him and I got to say he is my prime guy I also have Saladin and Alex but they die way faster I have Saladin but not Suleiman but Saladin is supposed to do damage and kill enemies and from killing them you are supposed to get hp from logistics.
