The Japanese did alot of terrible things such as rape and massacre, somehow the flag that represent japanese act in ww2 is not banned. And the Sovjets did much worse. They had work camps similar to consentration camps and after ww2, it was all forgotten. And while i understand that the nazi flag was banned, I think imperial japanese and sovjet flag should be banned to, because alot of innocent people died under these rules, and their families hates the flags because they think of what happened to their ancestors. For example is there many people in Russia, China and Ukraine that remember what happened during ww2, so yes i think those flags should be banned to, im sure people would agree. Difference between these and the Nazi flag/Swastika: The Nazi symbols were used exclusively by the Nazis, and are associated exclusively with the Nazis, whose entire rule was almost universally despised. The Japanese flag is associated not only with Tojo's days and WWII, but with the preceding centuries, Japan's "Golden Age" of sorts. The Soviet flag is affiliated with Communism/Marxism-Leninism, which aren't as universally despised in Russia as they are in the West. There, the Soviet Regime is viewed as the government that made Russia rival the West. The association with the purges and Gulags exists, but it is only a part of the story. Don't get me wrong, the atrocities of Tojo and Stalin were awful

Hmmm. Why don't they use an extremely offensive symbol linked to one of the biggest genocides of the 20th century. Hmm I wonder

Why should Swastika be banned but not the sovjet or the imperial Japan flag? In Germany, Austria, and Switzerland (idk about other nations) the Swastika or Hakenkreuz in German is banned for reasons besides of things such as education. I've seen a few comedy videos on YouTube showing it (from German television) but I've heard they use a camera trick or something like that. And you have to make sure to not confuse it with the symbol of luck in many cultures. For example in India it can be traced back for centuries

The Soviet Union was our WW2 ally and Stalin was the leader of it. So he would simply keep his flag but once the Union collapsed many Russians might probably remember it as a time of power. Japan also decided to not change their flag if I'm correct. Russians are actually not so brainwashed as the americans think there are actually not so many people who like the ussr only high ranked officials. And its a thing when a country loses a war and gets fully occupied, everything that is from the old country gets banned by the occupants, In Asia it was different circumstanses. Japan was willing to co-operate, even emperor Hirohito. Agreed, to the victors belongs the spoils, including how history is written. It's an unfortunate fact of life.
