Hello this is my first guide. I'm well aware that there may be a guide on France in '39 already, but my game got deleted before i could make an actual guide.
Before I get started, my generals are (were) Guderian, Patton, MacArthur, Kuribayashi, Yamamoto, Donitz, Halsey, and a few other high end generals. For new players, you most likely do not have these at your disposal. At the very least, you need 1 Armored general and 2 Infantry. Meyers from Berlin is a good beginning general, and Wingate and a Russian general who i dont remember (Shaposhnikov i believe) are decent starting infantry. France in '39 is a good challenge that will ready you for '50 and '60 where you will face overwhelming odds.
To begin, down below is a picture of Front A, France herself. As you can see, there are German forces near the Belgian border ready to storm around the Maginot line. You need to send your northern most units to Belgium and hold the Germans off as long as you can while constantly recruiting support units
. Place your armored general on a heavy tank when you have enough funds. DO NOT SUICIDE YOUR GIVEN GENERALS. Keep your generals alive for as long as you can, they are your lifeline in Front A.
Next is Front B, Indochina. This is a challenging area for your French colony, as Japan usually makes short work of the Americans in the Philippines, the Chinese in the North, and their stubborn ally Thailand down south. Hanoi doesnt make this easier, either. Hanoi only produces Riflemen and Assault infantry. What you do is spam Assault/Riflemen whenever you can, and place an infantry general on one of them. Do not engage the Thai forces, let Britain and the US take care of her. Keep 1 or 2 units near Bangkok, and as soon as the city's health is zero and there are no enemy units in it, swoop in and take it. From there, you can advance north and assist the Chinese.
Next is Front C, Africa. This is a pain in the butt for starting players, as your units stationed in Africa are scattered and you have a sucky general on an armored car. Downside is that your cities there produce low units like riflemen, upside is that Spain and Italy dont really attack you down there. Play defense and you're fine essentially
Send Darlan, the French admiral stationed at Toulon, to bombard Rome which has Graziani in it. Reduce Rome to rubble, eliminate Graziani, and drop some paratroopers in there. Leclerc should be sent to Spain, supported by infantry and maybe 1 artillery piece, to fight the Spanish and cover your west flank. The US sends troops to Coruna, so you have the going for you. By this time, your forces defending from the Germans are weary and beaten up. The Maginot line is almost completely destroyed, and you're fighting on 3 three fronts. But you must push on. Keep creating units and push East into the German heartland, taking as many cities as you can. Artillery is useful for this type of offensive strategy, as most of Germany's defending units are infantry or tanks. Italy will have fallen by now if you pushed on, and Spain has faltered by a joint French-US assault. Your troops in China are pushing the Japanese back to their island. Europe is mostly French blue and this point. From then on, the rest is mopping the Axis up.
