I finally started Dark Souls 3. Was doing great until I got to the first boss. It always goes well until you get to the first boss. Iudex Gundyr? From what I could tell from watching DS3 playthroughs (don't have any of the DS trilogy, but planning to get them this summer), just baiting him to attack, circling to his back, then attacking while he finishes does the trick. Or you can use firebombs. I actually cheesed him. You gotta pull a sword out of his chest to start the fight. Once you pull the sword he has a little cutscene/animation but you can hit him while he's doing that. Started the fight with half health

I heard it is quite hard. No surprise for first boss to be difficult if it is. I'm progressing pretty well. Got about 3 bosses under my belt with a side helping of minibosses scattered around. Haven't died nearly as much as everyone says I will. Sometimes during fights I just can't get hit. Rolling around too fast. Pretty good progression, though I don't play enough to compare. Tell me how you do when you get to the- Abyss watchers I just did them, and they punish my Greatsword character, trying to roll around on them. Perhaps I just need to git gud, despite playing every game but Demons Souls. BTW that Ice-based knight mini-boss was horrible. Its location coupled with its strength is nightmare fuel honestly. I hated having to travel to its place just to fight it.

... And thus an era of EFC history, the 356-page RP, comes to an end. No... *arm stretched out forth in the air dramatically* An epoch it was!

Mountbatten , I was playing Wilhuff Tarkin 's CSA mod, and I saw you fire a salvo at Oslo from 3 hexes away. And I thought to myself- he wouldn't be a top-tier Navy general I'm pretty sure, but a +1 range MountBatten would surely be a strong improvement? I was thinking of getting a cheap Infantry general, but thought it might be a good idea to get Vatutin first. But then I realized- if one can build 2 hex range Mechanized Infantry, wouldn't he be a reasonable General? Like Artillery but with no ability to fire without response. Well the general I'm looking at DOES have some Raider ability. Probably going to go with the infantry for novelty, even though I've never had Vatutin either.

I'm mostly running through the goop getting all of the side items currently. Ice-based knight? What area? I might have fought him. Are you referring to the one that's right before the swamp? That guy killed me a couple times. Him and the Black Knight gave me the most trouble.

Its the guy at the bottom of the elevator I think. Probably just before the swamp, or before the spot that leads to it. If I remember right his sword doesn't even fit my character, or at least it has some weakness I don't like. Thx for response.

I'm just using a sword and shield. I just reinforced the Irithyll Sword to be the strongest one I have, so that's what I use. My shield is nice too. I believe I got that sword off of the knight that you're talking about. My loadout is really basic because I have no idea what I'm doing.

I believe I got that sword off of the knight that you're talking about. My loadout is really basic because I have no idea what I'm doing. understandable for a newbie someone who has no clue what they're doing For a second I thought you were being really savage a la Dark souls fan but then I noticed you said what they said......WITH A SLIGHT CHANGE IN WORDS. I read that the Irithyll straight sword is a strong one for early-mid(?) game, so it makes sense. I also hear that the actual Irithyll area is very creepy.....not eager to reach it. Mountbatten, in Dark Souls 1 the Drake Sword is famous for being gotten early, having very high damage for that point, and thus commonly being used. Its mortal weakness is no scaling based on your stats, so it eventually is very weak. Unless you upgrade it like a fool, and I don't know if that would work. Katanas are apparently very cheesy or whatever, and thus are looked down upon by greater fans than I in probably every game. I've simply used other weapons. I can't say I'm so much of a pro I've never used the sword plus (heavy?) Shield layout
