Music is something that should be taught in Elementary and Middle School, but by High School, it's really unnecessary for everybody to take it. Music class in Elementary and Middle School is important as it can possibly ignite interest in music as the students are still fairly young and probably haven't been exposed to music yet. By High School however, kids know whether they like music and whether they're good at it. For those who are good at it, great, there are enough of those type of students to make an elective or even a couple for those. But for those, like me, who couldn't sing to save their life, then there's no point to making us take music, even if it's needed for one elective credit. Same goes for stuff like Art or Technology (I do believe that taking at least a semester long computer course should be mandatory, however, given the world we currently live in). Music, arts and programming are the best way to make people think, you have to think to get better and become more original and logic. Those who aren't capable to think are mostly incapable of being productive members of society. That has been said by many smart people and many more supports that, well I have to agree that we need black workers(not related to race), but the number of such works is rapidly becoming robotised.

Logic is necessary for success, but simply because you know music, programming or art doesn't mean you're logical. Logic is in fact learned better through math or science, through knowing cause and effect, knowing how to identify patterns, knowing how to find the best solutions to problems. Knowing how to read a music script won't make you logical. Art, music and programming aren't necessary to be logical or to be successful. Those are what you call a field, not necessary knowledge, like math, science, history or language.

Also programming requires thinking to be usable and to learn programming you have to learn how to think

I must reiterate, I'm not against these classes, it's just that they shouldn't force a kid who can't sing to take a chorus class. Make them take one of these classes, but don't make them take all of them.

In my school music is mandatory until high school, you can drop it then, but I kept it due to a easy 💯 in the class

Why do I buttdial so much? dude, I can feel your pain. I had a phone which had some serious problems with buttdialing, I remember going to college and when I would put it in my phone (before leaving, at home) EVERYTHING would be fine, but once I would get to college and take it out, it would've sent random texts (alphanumeric texts with gibberish in it) to my contacts. Boy it was a pain!
