Exactly. Its a lot easier in 1830 or 1914, as its all known. Here? I know the Byzantine Empire's population, over or around 10,000,000, its area to some extent. I know the size of the Field army, and I know the Navy probably peaked at 150 ships just a few years ago. I'd assume the Venetians are similar as my fleet can defeat them. Edit: Just gonna mention Byzantine once had 300 ships. Despite our great increase in naval power...still not up there. My enemies or distant rivals? No clue. Well I know the Egyptian country has around 7 millions, I can't even tell the French because while I know their population (-13 million) they are divided. So I'm gonna have to make an educated guess? I think so, unfortunately. You are the Kingdom of Arles correct? Well you covered in 1,000 AD 133,000 SQ KM, or a bit smaller than the Kingdom Of England. One option is to go by Population density of the French or otherwise regions in Burgundy, giving yourself the resultant percentage of 13,000,000. However such densities of course change over time. Possibly quite drastically. Not to mention your opponents system of government might not be equal, thus yielding a different army.

Hugh III of Burgundy, your turns do not need to be hyper-realistic or hyper-detailed. Still, it should be enough of both to be fair, understandable, and valid to you, the GM, and other players. If information is available in the Net, then I suppose you could search it. Other than that, I suppose you can use a method of comparison. Your population should be slightly smaller than Capet France, etc.

Will there be no mention of Mongolia or no one playing them whatsoever? They do attempt to conquer Russia in a short 40 years.

Note that the Crusades were attacks into Asia- we are already dealing with asian aggressors. If they aren't coming through that section of Asia, then they have to pass through modern Russia. If the nomads succeed we might hear about it. Of course IRL it was difficult to be united. In any case I think Mongolia is a LONG way away (lol, thats what they thought IRL too) and so it would be odd for a Player to do it. What does he/she do? Attack a bunch of NPCs until they eventually reach us? Thanks for your input and history knowledge though. GO PORTUGAL!

They also fought in Poland, but then when their leader died, they had to retreat... I'd say that involves Europe a little bit.

They sacked Baghdad which really hurt Islam, and in fact the Frankish Crusaders tried to ally with the Mongols who at the time were partially christian. My namesake and player country Byzantium actually forged the most complete alliance with Mongol that I've ever heard of...and the Mongols still almost ate them. The two routes for invasion are the Middle East and Russia, with Nomads having to choose one. Russia would be obvious choice I think. Is there any Asians that aren't in the Middle East that we have to worry about right now? As others said Mongol is in the future and as I said would be awkward to play as. 1. The GM could declare an event where the Mongols invade, or even make them playable. 2. We had a game once before my time where the Mongols invaded, one player playing as them with a large starting army. Of course that game was DURING the Mongol invasion of Europe. Anyway, we used to have a person active in RPs often named Caesar. Perhaps you can become his replacement lol? Edit: That wasn't the only time they had to retreat because of Mongol policy about leader deaths. They failed to conquer Palestine because of that too.

DARN IT I KNEW IT! I wrote that BEFORE he named himself Lee. Quintus Fabius, I was trying to be subtle. He did sound a little like him, do you think he put on a good act?

Don't try to control me with that rule, that Post you are quoting was my first off-topic post in this thread. Twas a crime of passion, if I remember my terms. BTW I had no time to check any post about your return because we were discussing Mongols BEFORE that. *Byzantium reintegrates Portugal into its dominion* *establishes colonies in Virginia*
