Hey guys! So, the mapmaker for the region I'm apart of has gone inactive, and currently resides in the NationStaas graveyard. One of us thought we could take up the spot, but the map the previous cartographer used wouldn't work with what this brave soul had (I don't know why, but I didn't bother asking). What do y'all use to make maps for RPs and such?

But this sounds more like a file format issue (unless he used a real bad piece of software that couldn't handle it). I can safely say that Photoshop (can be regular, Elements or CS) or GIMP both are capable of importing 99% of whatever you find as an image even BMPs or some other incredibly stupid format. I recommend saving the resulting images to three main formats: JPG, GIF, or PNG. Anything else is just bad for filesharing images on the internet.

For the map I have in NS,it was from some obsure fantasy site that's probably down now. The name of the site is still written on the map though... Nowadays I mainly use Paint.NET and work in the style of AFOE mapping maps.

I deal with alot of file extensions from other countries and alot of newer ones. The day that .webp is on gimp is the day I die
