Next imo badoglio and gorovov unless you rather pick an air general.
Among the elite generals I consider 8 points of damage to make a big difference only on air generals, that's because I use the fighter strikes the most and 8 points extra on fighter attacks makes a big difference since percentage of damage is large but for the rest of elite generals like Guderian that can do 100+ damage then 8 points is significant but not a game changer for me.

IMO Gudarian then air general like Goering then 2 artillery generals like Gorovov and badoglio.

It depends on your preference and play style. For me, I would choose an air general even if it's just a cheap 500 medal general

For 1939 a good artillery general is better. For 1943 it's kind of either. 1950: I'd say air 1960: I'd say air 1975: art.
And if you have any questions like this please make a separate thread.

Well if using an art. general you would also get nuked. Göring is perfect for 50s and 60s because he can take a nuke and then (hopefully) flee to a city out of range.
Back to the topic: imo Guderian is the best general non-custom in game.

Generals serve their purpose in the first 4 rounds. By round 5 though, everybody is done building their nukes and you can kiss your generals goodbye

The OP (original poster) has asked an open question,ie:what comes next after Gudarian.Meaning what to do,what other generals to get, what to focus on ect.. So yeah if we are going to tell the OP what's best we have to say why we think so and we have to be prepared to explain our views to anyone else that might disagree with us too. That is on topic because it directly relates, clarify or explain what was asked to start with.
Anyways since thenoob only has Gudarian and may not be familiar with air conquests it might be better to focus on artillery generals after Gudarian. This might be even more true if a player decides he wants to do many campaigns right at the starts as there is usually not enough money or oil for airstrikes in the campaign mode.

I'd say get Ozawa. He is an excellent naval commander and a pretty good air commander. Besides of that is he a Major (100HP).

By round 5 though, everybody is done building their nukes and you can kiss your generals goodbye But I heard from one of the admin(in the Chinese forum, an admin requires great skill in playing and needs to contribute a lot to the forum) that the generals in the cities/ has 350+ health are in nuke crisis, mostly safe after 300- health.
