In another thread Erich von Manstein said, quoting: Artillery---5stars movement Tanks -----4 starss movement Infantry ---4 stars movement Navy----3 stars movement I wanted to know more. This is based on movement cost from land tiles like plains? Or how did conclude that more movement stars past these levels are a waist.

movement stars give you the ability to gain more terrain in one turn (as you know). but if you uprade them to more than the lomits that are standing there. they wont get more terrain. so its only a wast of medals

Or how did conclude that more movement stars past these levels are a waist. 3 movement points make you move 1 hex on plain and each movement star from general adds one additional movement point to the unit. For example, a field artillery has 5 movement points so it can move only 1 hex but when Govorov (have 1 movement star) is commanding the field artillery, the movement point increases to 6 (5 + 1 from Govorov) and now it can move 2 hex. If the movement point is not divisible by 3, the remainder becomes a waste. Here's where those numbers come from... Artillery: Rocket artillery has 7 move + 5 movement stars = 12 move --> 4 hex Tanks: Super Tank has 8 move + 4 movement stars = 12 move --> 4 hex (Normal Tank has 10 move so 5 movement stars enable it to move 5 hex but we are not gonna put Guderian on that thing, are we?) Infantry: Commando has 8 move + 4 movement stars = 12 move --> 4 hex Navy: Carrier/Battleship has 6 move + 3 movement stars = 9 move --> 3 hex

I said that based on the movement on plains, and on plains and ocean, moving every hex needs three movement. Artilltry needs 5 because the rocket artllery, tank only needs 4 because that is what super tank need, infantry only needs 4 because of commando, and navy 3 because all units in ocean has the movement that can be divided by 3.
