Lannes and Davout have assault art and geography in common. Lannes has also leadership so he's good on every unit and mass fire makes him a beast on infantry. Davout has surprise and explosive that make his attack stronger (cavalry and artillery).
In conclusion, Lannes is good on every units, Davout only 2

Davout has 22 stars and Lannes 19. 3 stars aren't a big problem

sorry but lannes is trash. He is a weak hybrid gen, davout and poniatowski are better. He doesn't have any specialised skills for cav or art like accurate or strike/surprise. I would hate to put him on infantry because geography and leadership is wasted and his mass fire is wasted if he was put on cav.
Only mass fire helps if he is on inf and leadership + geog helps if he is on cav. Davout is good if u s/l and poniatowski is good if you don't.

I mean, I have to defend my namesake as he is the only by-and-by hybrid in the game, but he only gets 3 stars in everything, and in reality you will only ever really use him on cavalry, a ship, or MAYBE artillery. Lannes is also an okay hybrid, but I think he is a much better infantry general, and if you are not putting him on infantry you are wrong.
