Of the six Tier 1 generals currently in my academy, two of them are trainers and I have enough medals for either one of them - Elphinstone (navy) and Jerome (business). Each of them would be bought and immediately regrouped; I currently have six slots, and I am prepared to spend real $$ on a seventh if necessary (or alternatively just regroup Kutaisov into Sophia for her fourth artillery star).
The alternative is to do an immediate refresh and see what I can get in the way of cavalry or movement trainers. Dumouriez currently has four stars, and will probably stay until I (one day in the distant future) get Lan, so giving him a fifth might not be a bad thing to do, and he might benefit from movement stars also (Sophia is currently maxed out in this regard).
Whether I should get Maria any infantry training in the short term is also something I am wondering about. Victoria is a long way off for me. Or should I just grind and try to pick up someone like Dobeln, who has five stars AND mass fire to boot. Or infantry firepower (Baker rifle).
I am currently still only on the first two campaigns, so I won't be needing hard-hitting naval capability for a while (e.g. for SNS).
Ultimately my choice, but food for thought is welcome.

Nobunaga Oda, your opinion is appreciated. It's going to be a LONG time before I get Lan, so I might as well regard Dumo as permanent for all practical purposes. Built up in movement stars, he will be of great use for quite some time in both campaign and conquest modes. I have already given him the fifth cavalry star, and his output is impressive if I do say so myself. Though perhaps the best thing might be to get him the +2 cavalry movement item, because Lan can also use it when Dumo is eventually regrouped (probably to give her her fifth and last cavalry star; he will be of no use after that). So probably I should rotate the academy at once, so I am not tempted to buy Diez. The problem with Kate as a navy/artillery hybrid is that she has absolutely no artillery-specific skills. Carteaux is far better in that respect. I had been considering whether to give him movement stars, but engineering is like 2* already and horse artillery gives him another 2*, so with that and War Horse his movement is adequate for now. If there were no princesses in this game he'd be my best artillery general and I would give him 5* movement, but he's getting regrouped the moment Isabella arrives so that I don't have to grind her up as much. Kate will be my navy general where such things matter, until Victoria arrives. Infantry training? I don't want to buy a specific infantry general, but there are times in campaign mode or with smaller countries in conquest mode when you have a very strong infantry unit that would benefit from the extra punch a general provides. Maria is a 3* infantry general who comes for free. It costs 410 medals (buying and regrouping Latour) to make her four-star. Can you show me a 410-medal, four-star infantry general who has three stars in trade, training AND movement?

This does not exist. If you replace the 410 medal requirement with 6 or 8 royal emblems, you have three results: .org/image/w7s6jj8rp/] [/url]

UPDATE: Two academy refreshes to get me away from the temptation of Diez, and who should pop back up but good old Kutaisov!
Should I just get Sophia her fifth artillery star and be done with it?

The 410 medals can be used for the girl below, which can be unlocked for free (not considering the medal investments for medkits). You need to invest blood, sweat, and tears though. She is worth it.

The balance has now shifted - the one who needs the artillery training is Isabela. There seems no good reason not to lift her to five stars - she needs to be as lethal as possible before I run for Victoria and Lan, and it won't exactly hurt her prospects in campaign either.
Now that I have Sakurako, that +2 saddle is looking like a good investment. As are... oh, another +6 powder, another Fergusun rifle, another Horse Artillery... All these things are preferable to a tent, which I also want to play with at some stage. Grind, baby, grind.

Right now I'm farming for Sakurako's flags and a lot of Diez trainers. But I only do one conquest a day since I completed the campaign so a slow farming for me.

Do let me know how flags work out on Sakurako and how you choose to work them.
