Finished conquest with China with rank S. What I found during the game is some of your strong allies (US and Russia) were basically incompetent in defending or capturing cities. There's a couple of times they managed to destroy a city and leave them unoccupied (I watched in horror as American generals skipped A.Coruna and suicide themselves to Madrid while the Soviets were stupid enough to leave Moscow undefended).
But the good news is some of my weak (even weakest) allies were basically doing great in the game. Canada and Cuba managed to capture a couple of cities in France/Spain, Australia and India defeated Thailand and conquer much of South Asia.
But the biggest supprise to me was Mexico. Around round 30-35 when I was busy capturing Korea, damn Mexicans overran Tokyo and desolate almost all of mainland Japan! 😯
Guess ET does improve a bit on their A.I coding.

bagramyan, how long did you take to beat back the Japs' assault and defeat all invading Japanese gens?

It took around 20-25 turns to repel their assault (even losing Wuhan along the way) but they usually left Manchuria undefended so I send the motorized inf. Chinese gens to destroy and capture the small cities (they deal massive damage to cities but fairly weak when fighting normal troops).

best75, yes the Soviets were basically screwed in this conquest. I would recomend to send and park few mobile infantries in Eastern Europe to ready capture any emptied cities early game (the Soviets were bad in capturing cities even if they managed to destroy it). Usually Warsaw, Kiev or Leningrad can be captured by this manner. After that, just defend, defend, defend... Don't ever let your enemies capture any of your cities, even if it takes light infantry to defend it. The Germans have an annoying habit to spam high-lvl tanks and artileries which makes your counterattack more difficult.

My 1943 ROC went quite differently. I guess it's a matter of luck about how well your allies did. In my conquest, Japan was not that strong and took me less than 10 rounds to capture Nanking and have a firm grasp on the whole area. By round 20, Japan is no longer a threat. Germany did not do well either. It could not even take Moscow. Italy, Romania, Bulgaria, and Hungary were troublesome. Their troops poured in non stop. It was like I played a tower-defense game. I indeed built a lot of forts. My allies did next to nothing about attacking from Atlantic. This was a sharp contrast to my Egypt 1943 conquest where US, Mexico, Cuba, Canada, and Brazil made a huge armies attacking the Axis from Atlantic (They were even success taking UK).
Since I had finished off Japan quick, I thought it would be a smooth conquest but in the end I spent a lot of time to take control over Balkan area and it took me about 60 rounds to finish the conquest.

Huh, it looks like we need to try out more diplomacy. Anyway looks like somebody has found some spare time😉

I managed to completely destroy Japan by Turn 25 and was able to take a few eastern cities before I got completely bogged down by the Axis spamming troops. Any suggestions?

I did this conquest and had similar troubles. I believe I pretty much defended while slowly advancing westward and taking cities, buying time until I could spam missiles. This included building forts. After that I took out the small countries, like Hungary and Romania. Even if Germany took them back, I'd be fine with that as long as they're defeated. Maybe I'll play around with this to see if I can't find an easy way to win, and make it into a guide. Here is my previous result:

I would probably concentrate on Japan first, while doing that I would bulid the great Wall in Tibet and shixang to insure the flank is guarded. Finally I would help the Allies and take out Thailand.

I tried a different strategy and it seemed to have worked, unless rng was nice to me. I will try replicating it later to make sure it wasn't just luck.

I did this, even 2 yrs ago with low tech and weak gens. Turned out well haha, heavy tank spams usually works
