 when you get to lvl 20 you get to buy commandos for use in domination mode. These units are expensive compared to other units but are quite powerful. Now it shows the abilities of the Japanese commando but when you deploy them their abilities change to the commando of the country you are using. Here when I deploy them they change to the ability of the Australia commando. They gain Forrest fighting. I was able to easily destroy the enemy in this invasion by placing them in the forest   The only downside is not every country has commando so you can't always deploy them. |

So what would you recommend instead as a replacement for commandos, or is troop deployment situational so it depends?

Most of the time you I say use mechanized infantry as replacement because they have the best stats of the other infantry. Maybe motorized infantry if you are facing a lot of armored units because they have grenada ability meaning they do extra damage against them. Assault and light infantry are just weaker infantry. No need to use them when you unlock better infantry units for legion mode. |

I think all countries have commandos. Even the neutral countries to. It's just that commandos are to powerful do they are not added to certain legion battles

I checked conquest and some countries actually dont have commandos. all countries in 1939 can't make commandos.
