I would like to inform you that I beated Volgograd today... So, after one year of playing, I finished this game. It was really the hardest and most challenging. And for the subject of this thread, my generals for the very last empire battle: Nobunaga - skills 5,10,10, equipped Paladin set Li Hongzhang - 10,10,1, Keel sword, boots, and ring (freshly purchased) Li Shimin - 3,10,1, Odin armor & Titan ring Nelson - 10,1,1 Bismarck - 1,10,1 Blücher - 10,10,3 Saladin - 2,10,1 Alexander - 1,10,1 My advancement (I must admit that I have huge amount of luck at the end): First bunch of enemies was defeated quite fast, thanks to both Bismarck's and Blücher's Rumor triggered. Nobunaga, Alexander, Saladin, and Blücher went then to the southwest, and Bismarck, Li Shimin, Nelson, and Li Hongzhang to the southeast. By turn 13 or so both southwest and southeast armies were cleared, and by turn 16 Bismarck and Li Shimin defeated the southeast tower. Then all went to the central-south, except Saladin, who valiantly went to the northwest point to guard it till the end (15% healing princess included). The central-south base was cleared by turn 26 (I lost Alexander here). Then Nelson went back to southwest for support an oversea invasion, and the rest started the final attack to the central fortress. (I must say that Nelson is necessary for this battle. I cannot imagine how it can be able to get overseas and take the objective on time without him. With his support I take the southwest objective by turn 36.) The final attack was the most difficult, the OP generals slowly decimated my units' health, and I also lost Li Hongzhang. With only Nobunaga, Li Shimin, Bismarck, and Blücher left, I must admit I believed that I wouldn't be able to succeed. In turn 38 I sent Bismarck (who had most health) to reconaissance mission so I could see both archery and cavalry OP bosses in the central objective. In next opponent's turn I lost Li Shimin and to my surprise, the cavalry boss also attacked and nearly killed Bismarck, but to do this, he abandoned the objective. Turn 39, only archer boss stood in the way to the final objective. I attacked with Nobunaga, who were killed when enemy retaliated, but managed to cripple him, and then Blücher finished him. Finally, beaten, wounded, and exhausted Otto Eduard Leopold, Prince of Bismarck, Duke of Lauenburg, finally captured the objective. Epic, just epic :-) Wellcome to the club, brother !

After thousands of push ups, in Kyokushin you really don't care about numbers, same with victories and lost battles. But Finishing is Epic. It's like getting next belt. imo. still Three Kingdoms is the best (not the hardest, but climate kicks *Auto corrected*). I'm waiting to finish EW 5 as well . Congrats. darmowe gify

Thanks to all of you. Your advices and help were most useful, and also helped me to overcome the boring and stultifying "middle part" (grinding to gunpowder, while unable to do anything except missions - units level 40, but player level 99, so enemy level the same).
I am also glad that Saladin made it to the end (well, even if he was only in the rear). I dare to say that he is the second best general cost and ability-wise, after Nobunaga.
And I forgot to mention that all generals were level 60, except level 50 Bismarck (I still don't get why I should give up no retaliation for measly 50% cavalry bonus...)
Frankly, I am not that willing to restart the game completely, I'll try to complete item sets and further upgrade generals to max. Then I try how fast I would be able to complete industrial campaigns...

Interestingly (to me anyway) ours are almost identical - the exception being Blucher whereas I have Jhansi - and the only extra legendary item you have is the Keel Ring. Definitely some useful info there for me to think about, like perhaps it's time to remove the Paladin set from Alex and let someone else try it on for size. Thanks again.

I used Nelson and Li archer commander skills in first attacks, and Jhansi as a third commander would be certainly useful, but Nelson really had to go to the southwest and could not participate in final attack, and Li was killed during it anyway. Blücher was simply much more effective due to his armor and rumor skill. Without him the last attack would be impossible for me. It would be interesting to replay this city with different generals, but my windows version don't support this. Once I win in empire city, I cannot replay it. But it could be possible to use Robin Hood in place of Nelson (for oversea invasion support), and use Nelson, Li, Jhansi, and Nobunaga as archer killing machine...

If you're talking about Volgograd it's wasted on me at the moment as I haven't even tried it yet, I've still got other things to finish before taking on the toughest one in the whole game More generally though I'm still undecided on Jhansi as a finalist. She hits pretty hard and 3 archer commanders can mean crazy damage, but she can't take much punishment at all.
