I have recently played and won the America 1775 conquest battle as Russia, but it took me just over 90 turns to accomplish (without save-load) and I think I could do much better. I have Carteaux and Sophia on artillery, Dumouriez (5*) on cavalry, plus Maria and Kate.
I think my mistake was to wait until much later in the game, until I could afford the best units for my generals/princesses; I suspect I should have put Dumouriez at once onto the strongest cavalry at start-up and Carteaux onto the most northern artillery, and enhanced their ability to destroy the Indians quickly; I wasted far too much time doing that. I suspect also that I should use tavern generals wherever possible, regardless of the medal cost; I generally end up farming them back fast enough to make no difference anyway.
I waited to put Sophia in until I had enough resources to buy a double siege gun for her (I don't put her on rockets any more, because I want her to be able to counterattack forts in the AI attack phase). Should I have put her on double heavy artillery instead?
I spawned Dumouriez onto a double guards cavalry in the southwest once my units had taken almost everything in Spain without a fight, but then it took an eternity to get him back into the fight in the northeast. I suspect, as I said above, that I should spawn him early, have him clear up the Indian capital and port in the northwest.
The problem I found with Russia in this scenario is that it very quickly builds up huge food reserves, but has no trade city to swap them for gold or wrenches. I was lucky enough later in the game to steal a trade city from the US and I immediately put Maria into it, since she has 3* on trade and didn't have much else to do.
I should also practise using save-load a lot more.
Your thoughts, all?

NEVER use tavern gens unless it's IRL Nuclear War-lvl state of emergency cuz (A) Waste of precious medals (B) You shouldn't have the need to use one in the first place (C) Don't be put off by poor results, you can DEFINITELY do better next time
_______________________________________________
I'd recommend playing the Netherlands instead cuz (A) Their navy is in the right place (the sea faceing the Altantic where there WILL be more important naval fighting) (B) You can annex the small powers (Brunswick, Saxony, Portugal, etc.) & grow (C) Smooth flow of battle on land, send most forces West and go clockwise around French land forces before targeting Indian West territories & send a minor force to check Red Faction on East coast (D) Better income from the get-go
_______________________________________________
For Russia, I'd suggest place Dumouriez on Heavy Cav & send him to Spainish territories.
Not sure about Sophia but I'd always spawn her on 2X Heavy arty cuz it's cheap.
I'd suggest you quicky move your navy against the Indian port, take it & use naval bombardment on Karamanli to force him into defeat but remember to prep the Northernmost Russians (the 2 who already can use transports) to take Karamanli's city. Then send them south to the next Indian city before heading off to fight Clinton at Fort York. OR, you may ignore the 2nd Indian city & British factory and continue Eastward to the British stables. Once you take it, spawn cav & head South to meet Clinton.
Fort Dearborn forces head in direction of Charleston, after wiping out last Indian forces in this direction, march north. If you don't like leaving your flanks open, deploy inf to press on Northeast while your Fort Dearborn thrust continues Southeast.
For your Spanish Inquisition, if you feel speed is your main foe after beating Spain, send non-cav units as far South as the Spanish stables before heading Northeast. From the stables, spawn 2X light cav & finish off stragglers of the Red Faction in the South.
Note: All of these are theoretical OFFENSIVE plans with NO consideration for enemy movements & I DID NOT play Russia in America 1775 so I have NO IDEA if my plan will work.

I have won as the Netherlands in 1775 America, so that's done and dusted. Also, another question - how far can the Americans be pushed with stealing before they will turn neutral or hostile? On my Android tablet I almost don't care; with 999 turns, I can beat almost anything. But on that I only have Sophia and Dumouriez, and a second-rate econ general I bought in my noob days. My Kindle Fire iteration has Sophia, Kate and Maria, but with that I'm limited to 99 turns still, so I sometimes get anxious and overlook things towards the end.

Hi pathdoc. You mentioned that you were waiting to have resources until late game so that you can buy units for your generals/princesses. When I played as Russia 1775 it took me about 55 turns to complete it with 4 generals. I'm just wondering, how often do you upgrade cities you capture? Let me share my strategy when I played as Russia in 1775. To the north you have a gcav and a light artillery. Have them assist Senyavin in conquering Karamanli's city. There is no need to put any general on the gcav. Furthermore, Senyavin can withstand shots from that coastal fort, and your light arty can help him break it. Once you capture the port, get your artillery to shore then have your gcav on standby beside Karamanli while Senyavin and the arty breaks him. Have the gcav take the last turn. In case he lands the last hit, he can capture the city immediately. If the gcav cannot capture the city in the same turn, it will be wise to defer from killing Karamanli so as to avoid having another unit spawn which will waste one movement turn. The same units together with Senyavin should then capture the factory southeast of Karamanli, near a small fort and a port after you capture the southern city guarded by a triple formation militia. Note that the same militia can be annoying if he leaves the city, but not a problem at all if it stays there. Once you capture the factory, upgrade it then spawn Sophia. Her duty is to capture Fort York, Kingston, Montreal, then Augusta. Send detachments to capture cities out of Sophia's path. Support her with guards or heavy cav. While the above happens, have the rest of the units reinforce Fort Dearborn. Have Ushakov go towards the southernmost western city you have which is close to St. Louis. Use the heavy cavalry for your cav general. Don't worry about using heavy cavalry if your country is Russia because they happen to have the strongest heavy cavs available. The only difference is that it does not have grenades to attack forts and have less HP than gcavs, but your cav general won't need to attack forts anyway. The duty of the cav general is to first defend Fort Dearborn, capture the town south of Fort Dearborn, move towards Cornplanter's city, move towards Cleveland, then help the US to defeat Hessen. Don't worry about the other Indian cities that will be ignored by your cavalry general because the French and the Americans will take care of those. You may also want to send in a grenadier or two to help them just in case.
Note that the Spanish are not strong. They just have many units at the start, and many low level cities. Ushakov with a heavy cavalry escort was enough for me to conquer Spain as well as assist the French, Polish, and Dutch with their objectives. Brunswick and Saxony really does not put up much of a fight, but in case they do just spawn your reserve generals to contain them. Do not buy any units at the first few turns. Resist the urge. Only buy the cheapest unit in case a city is in threat of capture. The economy of all red countries except Britain is really low so an early conquest ensures that they will not be able to form armies. You use the captured cities instead to break them with your own armies. Always make sure to consume your gold before you end your turn by first buying important units, then using the rest to upgrade cities first, then factories. Stables are a waste of coin so only upgrade stables when really necessary. You might also ask about the ships to the east. Fear not. Treville and Verhuell usually cleans the southern sea. Only Collingwood might stay alive because he is further to the north. I just surrounded him with guards while supporting artillery bombards him and he sinks. The faster you conquer, the earlier you upgrade cities and factories, the better your economy will be, the stronger army you will have in the field, the faster the conquest will be. Note that I only mentioned your cav general and Sophia in the guide. You still have reserve generals. Spawn them in areas which need reinforcement. .org/] [/url]
