Price in the shop: 505 medals.
Effect: Cavalry movement +2.
Intended use: Sakurako. Dumouriez, while he's still around (rather than spend 1080 on getting Diez twice). Lan, when I get her. I am currently lining up for a speed run at Lan/Victoria. And if I don't yet have enough nobility or campaign stars, at least I'll have the save ready.
Who's used it? Who liked it? Who used it but found it unnecessary?
It's 8:15 am here and it leaves the shop at about eleven this evening my time, so while I don't want to be overly demanding, early answers would be much appreciated.

Items via shop are in general not recommended to buy, as you can get them with discount in campaigns. You can find the quality saddle from the following places:
Campaign series - campaign name - place Holy Roman Empire Invasion of Peninsular Seville Coalition War of Glory Toulouse Eastern Overlord Ruins Minsk Imperial Eagle Retreat of the Empire Minsk
You can buy it from the shops in these places, if you use a general with trades stars on it, you get discount and save yourself some medals.

Many thanks NetherFreek. I have already played Retreat of Empire, so I went in and rushed Minsk with my current generals & installed Maria in it. 445 medals, saving 60, which I can use to buy medkits if required for the Lan/Victoria run. War of Glory is just a couple of games away in the coalition campaign, and by then I will probably have easily ground enough medals to buy another. Sakurako & Lan ought to race across the map after that.

For future reference, the optimal use-case is a cavalry general that already has geography, such as Berthier or Poniatowski. Depending on how you feel about switching items, that general can then achieve max movement while carrying another item.
For example to get a 5* in move cavalry general to go five-hexes in an armored car, you need war horse + quality saddle. Or geography + quality saddle. One reason that I’d rate Berthier the best cavalry general in the game (ahead of Lan/Golitsyn).

I do have War Horse and I have Sakurako, who will be getting cavalry stars as soon as Agha comes up next in the Academy. I accept that the best case is indeed a geography-equipped cavalryman with two of these, but failing that I'll take the Saddle and War Horse.

Only issue with Berthier is that he only has one cavalry star, so you have to constantly refresh for Agha and Quosandovih, and grind or do campaigns, so he has full potential. Of course, you can always put him on artillery, give him some items, and let him have his way

Why refresh for Quos, when Agha is so much cheaper? Just find a conquest or a campaign you've already done, wait for lots of enemies, and kill, kill, kill; your academy refreshes will happen in short order. (The Trafalgar grind can be good for this, takes little effort, and brings in medals easily too.)

It is good if you don't plan on equipping 2 other items (snare drum and war horse, etc).

Probably a war horse on cav general would solve the problem
