Imo, question "to buy or not buy"  Messe (or someone like him, you name it) is very simple. I started the game on this Monday, since then Messe brought me around 40 medals for daily invasions (for example, today morning he completed 2 invasions for 5 medals each). In a couple of days I can cover the cost difference between his price and buy-back price. But it is probably a mistake to hire him after a week or more of play. One does not sharpen the axes after the time they are needed. Did he get you through any campaigns which you cannot pass before?  I hired him after 3 introduction missions, so I can't answer the question :0) |

Now I can answer the question :0) I completed Europe campaigns (Allies, normal) today. With only one exception (Destination Berlin) with 3 stars for each mission. "Destination Berlin" is hard enough, so 2 stars for Messe is good, I think. I definitely couldn't do that without him.  Lone and proud :0)  |

I bought Vatutin and he is a beast! I've made it to the final mission on the Axis side thanks to him. Is he a good choice for end game? Is he worth keeping? (Planning on equipping Blitzkrieg as his 4th skill)

When people manage to make such great lengths of progress which just Messe and I have Vatutin, this makes me feel as though I've wasted my medals... and i could have conserved it for a greater general... How do you guys do it? How long did you progress your tech? What are your upgrades for Messe? Until then, I feel like restarting... alot of effort to get where I am now though. (ftp) Seriously, just 550 medals! (vs. 1800  ) |

(Planning on equipping Blitzkrieg as his 4th skill) I think he is a good choice. He will be definitely in my endgame team. And there are some interesting possibilities for his final skill. Blitzkrieg is great (but chances are high that there will be other tank generals in your team with this skill), but rare skills for a tank Commander (such as "Crossfire") can be boosted with medals you don't use much... |

(Planning on equipping Blitzkrieg as his 4th skill) Vatutin remains a solid third option as a tank general through the end game. Guderian is obviously the top dog. Rommel has more skill slots and a bit better potential for output. If you want the absolute best available, Rokossovsky is perhaps slightly better than Vatutin, but it’s a small difference, so you are better off improving other areas of your team. If you fill out your entire squad and decide you want to max out damage potential, you could look at trading him in for Rokossovsky, but it’s a huge cost for a very small improvement. |

And don't forget about one important moment. If you are ftp player, you have to think in terms price/quality. Guderian objectively is the best tank General. But the price is high enough and you need pounds of medals to upgrade his skills. But you need navy Commander as well, and for some missions Infantry Commander. So you have to choose what to do: to wait for months before you can obtain all these best generals or to look for decent substitutions. And thus you find some decent hybrids, capable (at least at some distance) of doing many things. No one will recommend Graziani to you, for example, but I'm practically bound to consider this option. Not because he is great, but because he can save me months literally...

There is a specific thread on here discussing first general choices. I would suggest Messe or save up for Vatutin. Vatutin is a top quality tank commander and can be used in your final roster as a third tank option. The reality is that tank generals are king in this game. They hit as hard as artillery most of the time, they have a lot more hit points and the chance to hit multiple times in one turn if you destroy an enemy. Lol if only htting multiple enemies was a reliable strategy. Unless you have 100% assualt upgrade you will only be able to hit multiple enemies if they are no threat to you. |

I have unlocked Conquest 1943 with Vatutin (finished Axis & Allies 11), and the conquest is brutal! Any tips? Like countries or key areas to invade?
In the meantime, i'll be doing WW2 Pacific campaigns as much as i can. Hope I can be able to unlock the Cold War Era. (Can't wait!)
I also have about 700 medals (no WW2 Pacific campaigns finished at the time)
