So my generals are composed of:ney,Sophia,Fatimah,Kate My plan is to replace Fatimah or kate with golystin(cavalry)since both of them are really weak.or should I keep Kate.hmmm
Sophia and ney on the other hand are quite strong.but sooner or later I know im going to replace sophia, but I don't know who to replace her.and do I have to replace ney to? Since I'm halfway through holy roman empire how far can I get with these generals?

The only person I would replace Sophia with is Isabella unless you want to buy a premium general, which Sophia is better than a lot of them anyway. Don't get rid of Kate, she is one of the best naval generals in the game for free. Fatimah you can trash to get Golitsyn. Ney is pretty good, but I would replace him with Murat although that is questionable. Maybe someone else has an input on Murat vs. Ney.

As for how far you can get, I would say maybe a little into the Eastern Overlord campaign. Finishing HRE will be quite difficult though, as some missions like the Continental System can be very challenging.

Like Lord Mountbatten mentions above. Sophia is even a better artillery general than Napoleon and there are only 2 generals can replace her; Isabela and Moreau. Isabela is an elite princess you get from conquest while Moreau is in tier 3 academy and costs 6 royal emblems. Kate is one of the best navy generals (actually the best, in my opinion) in this game. You will need her in later campaigns. But if you are not going to but 2 additional general slots, you might need a more versatile general for various situations. And in this case, Kate is not that kind of general. Ney is almost as good as Murat.
Just for your information, I beat everything in this game and I am still using Sophia, Kate, and Ney. They are that good.

What makes Sophia and Kate so good? (Besides the fact that they are free and easy to get)

Sophia has Explosive, Siege Master, and Spy. All of these 3 are useful, especially Spy that makes her a fortress destoryer. Since she will be commanding artillery, she can retaliate the fortress's attack. I'll just put her in the middle of multiple fortresses and she blows them off with counter attacks. Kate has all navy related skills; Steerman, Navigation, and Fireproof. Fireproof is important because ship cannot escape fire. Steerman and Navigation are obvious must have skills. Nelson has only Navigation, Jervis has only Steerman, Treville and Sydney do not have Fireproof. The only thing that Kate does not have is Leadership skill which can be useful in navy combat. But that does not really matter because AI, most of the time, is not smart enough to flank your ship.

So Kate is the best naval general in the game and she's free? That's convenient

Not only free, but one of the easiest princesses to get.

Her only downside is that navy is very situational in EW4 and she take up one general slot. If you are not gonna expand your slot then I doubt if she is more useful than other generals. You might use a cavalry/artillery general with armored carrier instead.

Until you get a better artillery general (Moreau (Premium), Isabella (Princess, my guide can show you how to get her), Jourdan (Tier 2, OP), Grouchy (Tier 2, almost a good as Jourdan), or Scharnhorst (Strong trainer, hold him until you get your final Arti gen; Tier 2)), and maybe even then, keep Sophia. Not to mean you should sack Ney now, regroup Fatimah instead.
