Proboards future version 6 Phoenix is still being developed and being tested. The main drive behind that version will be the standardization of the mobile and PC components ie: both will look and function in the same manner. Right now the current version of pb V5 makes our forum look and function and perform vastly differently depending on the platform you are using.
The devs have released a sneak peak of one of the features of V6: the [ F]loating Action Button or FAB for short. That's the + button below that sorta follow you around and will be context driven.
So here in this example pressing the [+] icon while reading posts in a thread would let you reply. This is designed to make it easier for new members to post because the [+]icon is much more visible and accessible and it is suppose to encourage more frequent postings. On a PC you would see something similar to :
And here is the mobile look for that same function, an almost identical look and function:

It's great to see the possibilities they added for mobile. Right now the only thing you can do is typing a textfield, so you need to write the code manually.

Yeap or alternatively by using the [desktop] view although I think that only work well in higher end devices. PB definitively starting to recognize the mobile market and finally implementing more compatible features in the forum software. Unsurprisingly in EFC mobile users make up the majority of the members, here is a snapshot of part of August month (most recent time frame that I have data on)

I am using whatever platform is at hand... Well v6 is well and everything, but I'm concerned about the behavior of v6 I certainly hope it won't go as it has been with v5, as we have seen it is at least twice a month when you can't properly use forums...

Tbh that seems to be a server side issue, not an issue with the platform itself. Not sure though

Hobo Joe, yeah I think so too, possibly: 1/ PB has grown too large for their existing server infrastructure. They aren't keeping up with hardware demand. 2)Another possibility might be due to the fact that they are a target of huge amount of spam advertising and it's possible that the measures put in place to counteract this is somehow affecting their performance. 3/ A third possible explanation might simply have to do with the world wide hacking phenomenon going on atm, hundreds of companies all around the world have been disrupted is some fashion by cyber criminals. Or it might be a combination of multiple factor, PB isn't telling atm. The Light Bringer,V5 is considered to be a pretty solid upgrade to V4 and has been mostly positively received by the forum community at large although it is in need of an upgrade on the mobile side. The severity of the servers performance problems is a fairly new problem long after V5 came online. NetherFreek, unknown ETA but not likely to be too soon because they are still in dev alpha internal testing right now.

The hacker activity isn't more active than before 2,3or5 years, it is simply more public. Proboards servers can't handle v5 when they try to update some features half of their servers crashes, that is the main problem, they need to optimize their code for v6 or it will be the same story there
