Hi gents,
I am a little slow and noticed that some are really quick in progress. Since those are sharing a lot of info I am looking forward to get a bit further with the game... ANd its time to strengthen my general team. For this I am hoping to get some input of you guys (especially those who ARE really further and experienced playing with these generals and not those who are hypothetically think some is better then some ;0)
Lets state we have atm all info on generals and the strength of our enemies (ofc we dont know what will come).. what general team combo would you suggest (NOT INCLUDING IAP!!) and taking in account limiting amount of medals
For example
3 tank: 1.Guderian, 2nd Rommel?, 3.Rokossovsky? 2 art: 1.Konev?, 2.leeb? 3. naval: 1.yamamoto?, 2.Nimitz? 3. nagumo? 2. air: 1. yamamoto? 2.dowding? 1. inf: 1. mannerheim? 2.yamashita?
looking forward to your thoughts!

Okay... without including IAP and with a « limited » amount of medals, this would be my team :
I play always with the same strategy, my forces are divided in 2 depending of their power.
1. ATTACK FORCES
Use them to attack directly the enemy ! Your main targets ? The generals.
- Guderian (very powerful and good defense) - Rommel (powerful attack, good defense) - Donitz (strong defense, powerful against strongholds)
2. SUPPORT FORCES
They will always support your 2 main generals, attacking after them to « finish » the work.
1 Tank : Model (good defense, strong on mountains) 1 Infantry : Rundstedt or Mannerheim (powerful attack) 1 Artillery : Leeb (powerful attack + Rumor) 1 Air : Kesserling (good defense, powerful air attacks).

Konev is a must in my opinion, and so is Rommel due to their cheap price(after 60%discount). No need for 2 air generals, and for now, as The Light Bringer points out, Yamamoto seems to be a good choice(though that might change if Goring comes out). Yamashita is a tad bit too expensive, maybe Rundstedt(like @glaber points out) might be a fine choice. P.S. Guderian is a MUST(like everyone thinks) P.P.S. Let's try to avoid Chinese generals.

Yes, indeed for « special » generals like Rommel, Konev and Rundstedt we suppose that you can get them at -40%.

Having finished Cold War scenarios and conquests and having had a full roster for a while, here are my suggestions...
4 Tank 1. Guderian 2. Rommel 3. Rokossovsky 4. Monty/Vatutin
2 Artillery 1. Konev 2. Leeb/Govorov
1 Air Yamamoto
3 Naval 1. Dönitz 2. Nimitz 3. Nagumo
2 Infantry 1. Yamashita 2. Mannerheim
The last spot is tricky. You could go with one infantry general and get both Leeb and Govorov. There are occasions when you need lots of rocket artillery. However there are end game exercises where you can only use Naval and infantry units, so having a second infantry commander is nice too. I suggest four tank commanders because there are conquests like Cold War with some countries where you need all the tank help you can get. For my Cold War Conquest with France, I used five tank generals (Manstein included) and three artillery commanders because the primary challenge was to thin out a massive wave of Soviet and Chinese tanks. France has Forces in Europe, Africa and Asia, so I didn’t need a big naval force. Britain, the U.S. and Japan start with large navies, and they did that work for me. Conquests with the Soviets in 1939 and 1943 can also use four tank commanders. You probably need Dönitz to help fight the Japanese Navy, but tank and artillery are your other main needs. With Finland, I actually used both Yamashita and Mannerheim. They start with commandos, so you don’t have to wait to conquer a city with level three factory to build heavy tanks and rocket artillery for generals. Yamashita’s mobility also allows him to quickly cross Siberia and Canada. I used him and lots of motorized infantry to take almost all of the northern Russian and Canadian cities.

I’d get a naval commander and another artillery general soon. Rommel is a bit better than Rokossovsky, but not much. One nice thing about Rommel is he can use medals you won’t want to give your other tank generals, like the one for desert fighting and, when we can get it from modern warfare conquest, the one for crossfire.
