What do you think is the 3rd best skill for a tank general after Panzer Leader and Blitzkrieg?

I prefer armored assault. It's a more consistent skill than plain fighting and when your tank generals damage is high enough it can give higher boost. When panzer leader activates the damage increase will be very great.

I would rank Plain fighting even lower than Explosive. Cities has a lot of HP and in case there is a unit inside it ia even worse. And as I see we spend a lot of time conquering cities. Enemy is much clever if comparing to WC3. They are not waiting to be slaughtered anymore. Moving injured units away and spawn fresh meat. So fighting cities is more important part imo.

One is that you get it on every attack regardless of terrain or enemy location. The other advantage is that it is a percentage-based bonus, which means that as your tech level increases and your general adds other damage abilities, the bonus you get from Armored Assault also goes up. Plain Fighting is a flat 25 points of damage. Armored Assault can be a great deal higher than that depending on your general’s skills and abilities along with your tech level.

One other thing to keep in mind is availability of medals to further boost damage skills. Armored Assault goes from 30 percent damage boost up to 48 percent with the Hero Medal. The Freedom Medal takes Plain Fighting from 25 to 36 bonus damage. There is no medal to boost Explosives damage, although 40 percent is a really good boost. Guderian can get all three. If you give him Hero and Freedom Medals along with Cross Medal for Panzer Leader boost, he hits so hard he doesn’t even need the Assault medal to boost Blitzkrieg because he can kill almost everything in one shot. You are doing about 300 damage 60 percent of the time in a stacked heavy tank, even more against infantry and once your unit gets a few promotions. I give the Assault Medal to my No. 2 tank general. Doesn’t hit as hard, but avoids retaliation 90 percent of the time.

I give it to second tank general and let No. 1 have three damage boosting medals. All that extra damage means more one-shots and less retaliation damage. Your No. 2 tank general is going to hit for noticeably less without the damage medals, so giving him the 90 percent chance to avoid retaliation makes more sense.

I need to put a lot of this in a separate thread for tips on invasions.

Is Armored Assault worth upgrading in the early game? Or only after I enter Pacific?

Is Armored Assault worth upgrading in the early game? Or only after I enter Pacific? upgrade all useful skills together, i.e. with guderian I upgrade his skills as such: once for panzer leader, once for armored assault, once for blitzkrieg, then start over with once for panzer leader. This ensures smooth upgrading for more efficient completion of missions

Manstein starts out with level 3 Panzer Leader and level 2 armored assault. I will use him as my “blitzkrieger”, and therefore it’s better that I don’t upgrade Panzer Leader or Armored Assault since I will use him in a more supportive role. I better use those medals to upgrade Guderian's Panzer Leader and Armored Assault instead since Hans is made to be more of a damage dealer while Erich is made to be a more supportive general.
