Can not decide if I should upgrade the skills of my current generals or save up to purchase more generals. What have you guys done with youre medals?

I think it depends on how many generals you have. I think you should focus on getting at least 4 generals so you have enough generals for the missions in domination mode. Than you upgrade your generals you will keep for endgame.
Having generals strong enough for the different invasion types is also important. So if you already have a tank general fully upgrade, I would recommend you don't upgrade your 2nd tank general, focus on upgrading your artillery or navy general. That is why once I upgraded my Manstein, I focussed on upgrading Konev for the artillery invasions instead of say upgrading Guderian

Do you struggle to complete objectives with your current generals? If your tank and artillery generals can’t capture the land objectives you need to win scenarios and conquests in a reasonable amount of time, upgrading them might be your best option. If they are capable given support to get the job done, getting a new general might be the better option. |

I don't think it's worth to upgrade your gens before you have at least some 5-6. To make gen notably stronger you will need many medals, but buying new gen is cheaper, especially if you buy famous gens with 40% discount.

If You need more gens focus on getting them. As improving is possible due to Your techs tree upgrade. To a certain extent it is not that expensive.
After that some critical skills could become Your main focus depending on Your play style: leader and assault/accuracy/raider skills for damage or rumor.

For me it is not so dogmatic. It depends on many things including current objectives, boosting medals I already have, even tech tree status. Basically I use medals from Invasions for upgrades, from other sources - for new team members...
