But there are also alot of Russians in foreign countries like in Ukraine or the Baltic states.
We all can conclude on one thing, something like this will most likely never happen and if it were to it would be a big catastrophe (not trying to be cliché here)

but i think that wto got to have a quick victory. the longer wto has to take, the more chance nato have. it also depends on how fast nato can mobilize their troops

I think the comparison to ww2 is spot on. Nato has much more production and, depending on russias allies, population. but wto has a bigger army, and natos are scattered around the world. If wto attacks quickly and by suprise, they might have a chance. On the other hand, germany had the benefits of some of the best tanks and planes, at least at the beginning. Now nato has the best planes, and tanks is up in the air as we have no idea what the russian tank can do compared to the israeli and s korean tanks. US naval dominance is even larger than the royal navys at the onset of ww2, becuase germany had italy and japan. Russia and china display a distinct lack of carriers, which are necessary for things like invasions overseas. The us has more subs, and more destroyers to hunt russian subs. And thats without even taking into account the navies of the rest of nato.

I agree with epic ninja, the USA would definitely win. Ghey currently spend over 4 times the amount of money on military that the 2nd largest spender which is China. I believe the figures are about 600 billion/ 150 billion, US dollars. Our capacity to wage war is still really large because of the military-industrial complex we created during ww2 and the cold War.

Diplomacy would probably prevent a war, but it isn't like all NATO members are toppling over eachother in order to be the first to attack/counterattack Russia. This isn't WC3 conquest in which you can just spam some Super Tanks and nuke the hell out of everyone who you think is an enemy.
The demands of the population also have to be taken into account. If they don't want to fight, a democratic governenment will remain neutral and won't send the army to the front.
Also, the US army has (for the last 60 years) only killed some shepherds in Afghanistan, invaded Iraq with massive air support and taken out a crappy Iraq army etc. In times of war, democratic countries have always performed worse than non-democratic countries. In these times, the public doesn't want to see their boys being sent to some war and get killed.
