Yes. Similar to dismissing generals, they refund you some of the medals but not the full amount tho

Looks like I have wasted some 400 medals buying Yama. I have great success using Yamashita. Even 12 Medal invasions for infantry. If the enemy general doesn't have rumor, it doesn't matter. Just sent Yamashita on a 4 stack motorised infantry all the way to the front. He obliterates everything. Invasions will end on 3-4 turns If enemy Gen has rumor play abit more cautious on the first turn instead of charging all the way forward. Enemy will Attack your other troops instead of your generals. My aim is to win invasions with the least possible investments in infatry gen, so I will just upgrade Konev a bit in order to be able to win.

I have wasted some 5-6 K medals rebuilding my ECs in wc3 for 1939 speedrun, and that was only one time and only two of them (third I left as he was to keep his KO stats). And that was just for 1939. Other human conquests could be ok with that build, but to get max profit against aliens, I had to rebuild them once again.

Btw, if you upgrade Raider to lvl 4 it will be even more cheaper than to give Konev an additional star.

And in fact that would be more effective as well. Too bad I didn't know about invasions difficulty from the very beginning. I thought that if you have 12 medals invasions on some lvl 25 or around, than they have to become much more harder later, especially keeping in mind those cries about hard invasions which are possible to clear only when you don't need medals. But shoot happens, farewell my 400 medals.

But shoot happens, farewell my 400 medals. The problem was that we never discussed so to speak "minimal requirements" for Invasions. The known fact was that best Inf generals can defeat 12 medal Invasions. Well, that's true, but I was surprised to be honest, how low in fact these minimal requirements can be... Ok, I have to re-play a couple of first turns from time to time, but imo it is better than to spend medals on upgrades. If I know it for sure that there is no future for Rundstedt in Modern war, I will dismiss him as well (because my Konev will have Rumor in addition anyway).

Just upgraded Konev to raider 3, his damage to infantry is some 3-4% worse than Yama's but for 400 medals, even compared with Rundstedt's 1380 that's not so bad. Even if I'll have to add one more raider or 5th inf star, that's 320 or 480 extra medals, so anyway I'll save at least 600 medals. But I don't think I'll need it, in case of problems, I'll add rumour, which I was going to give him sometimes for art, also rank upgrades will be useful for both art and inf. Too bad now I need to wait some time to dismiss Yama and hire Guderian. Just when I took phone to dismiss Yama first of all I sent all my gens to make a task.
