Is it true that you can only sell your general only once throughout the game?

No, you can sell gens as many times as you want. Just selling gen you lose 20% of his price and also you can't sell gen while he's doing a mission. If you don't see sell button for anyone, finish his mission and than sell.

Hello I can’t find the sell button for my general i have started the game just now and haven’t done any missions at all. I just bought a wrong general and now can’t sell it.

Yes he is an in game general like I bought him from the headquarters/academy then I realized he was worthless so I wanted to sell him but the thing is that the sell button isn’t there.
