I used machinist on Guderian. Saved me 10 times from certain death in conquest. In general I would not recommend mechanist. Rumor is the obvious first perk for campaign but the second should be for plain or explosives. Taking cities reduces the damage output of opponents and increases yours. Mechanist only slightly decreases the rate of decrease of output as Guderian takes damage. For the same medals you could upgrade health, which does much more.

Plain fighting is almost usless along with all other Terrain skills. I recommend Explosives,Rumor and leader skills on every unit you have. Especially on tanks and Artillery rumor and explosives are pretty strong.

In that, it is by far the best skill in the game. But once you have, rumor is near worthless, and plain makes it possible to open cities an entire round earlier in conquest. Explosives is 100% the priority, though. This is only regarding Guderian where his base perks make it possible to have this discussion.

Sure, the rumor skill is quite bad at the beginning, but when you invest into it; rumor will be your favorite skill next to explosives. So it's like Modern day Stocks, the more you invest in it the more powerful you get. The great news is that atleast your stats don't go down!

It recovers 300 hp within a 20 round campaign only. In a 40 round conquest it heals 600 hp. With medal it is 380/20 turn and 760/40turn

It's WAY larger than you think

It's WAY larger than you think Then it’s 1 conquest, perhaps Cuba 50’ is about the same. By round 20 or so Guderian’s health will be nearly 0, and if the CQ is to be successful, one’s income by now will have to had grown substantially. In 20 rounds health would have been boosted by mechanist, but at the substantial cost of damage. To heal to effectiveness again, at least 10 rounds are needed, but by this time income far outweighs in importance to a fourth to third health general. The final rounds of conquests like this are almost purely air/missile strikes. Land units almost become useless. For a few more medals, health could be boosted by an equally important amount, but does not replace potential output.

The thing is, I'd rather kill enemy troops first then let them get to me and have to recover, especially on an offensive general like Guderian.
But rumour is really useful as a defensive skill, even in conquest, although I wish that you could also reduce someone's defence when their morale drops.

I think you reduce their attack I know that, I'm just saying I wish their defence was reduced too, kind of like units in water, but to a lesser degree.
