To figure out, which skills are useful and which not, let's write in one topic what we know about skills:
Mountain Fighting, Plain Fighting, Jungle Fighting, Street Fighting, Desert Fighting
Known: like in wc3 adds 5-25 damage in particular terrain. Additional damage is not affected by target's defence.
Unknown: cities are plains? in city plain fighting stacks with street fighting?
Wolfpack
Known: increases attack of friendly surrounding units.that's not
Crowd tactics
Increases attack of friendly surrounding units by 4 points for each level. Victory medal doesn't affect this skill, though it's written to do so.
Infantry Leader, Air Leader, Artillery Leader, Panzer Leader, Navy Leader
Gives 8-40% chance to make fatal blow. Average damage is increased by 30%. Medal, which increases skill's chance to trigger also increases extra damage, and than totally it is increased around 80%.
Accuracy, Raider, Armoured assault
Increases damage of particular unit type by 6-30%.
Tide of Iron, Artillery Barrage, Bayonet Charge
Increases attack by 5-25 for particular unit type when hp is less than 50%.
Economy Expert, Industrial Expert, Technology Expert
Increases economical, industrial or technological output of city.
Blitzkrieg, Guerrilla
12-60% chance of enemy not fighting back for particular unit.
Cover
Gives chance to dodge some part of damage.
Shelter, Camouflage, Entrenchment
Gives chance to reduce damage from missile, air or artillery units.
Depot Ship, Machinist, Replacement
Restores hp of particular unit type.
Architecture, Elastic Defence
Known: restores hp of city or nearby fortress units
Unknown: elastic defence fixes city?
Rumour
Gives chance to reduce morale of enemy when attacking, works for counterattacks too. Effect lasts for 3 turns including the turn where rumor triggered. If rumor triggers once again while previous is active, effect length is increased.
Crossfire, Sailor
Known: increases counterback damage for land or sea units.
Unknown: whether these skills work when land unit is attacked from sea or vice versa?
Explosives
Increase damage to cities and forts. Unlike wc3 works for ships too. Like in wc3 doesn't affect aircraft.
Carpet Bombing
Increases damage to defending units in city.
Ace forces
Increases gained experience of unit.
Morale
-1 lowers attack by 20%, -2 lowers attack by 20% more, -3 unit can't move or retaliate. +1 increases attack by something around 17%. Morale doesn't affect gen's attack bonus. If 6 stars gen is commanding unit with 50 attack (total 80 attack), with morale -1 attack will be 70. For units without gens -20% attack can be counted as -20% to final damage. Effect lasts 3 turns (including the turn when it appeared). In some scenarios, where gen's death causes -2 morale to some units, morale becomes -2 even if unit was confused before.
Experience
gaining level raises stats of unit but don't restores hp like in wc3.
Nukes
Known: Damage is determined by nuke, which attached to missile or carried by bomber, small difference between bomber and missile happens if target has different defence against bombing and missiles. That is like in WC3. But unlike WC3 damage of nukes is affected by gen, which launches nuke. Unlike wc3 nukes except of damage may also inflict radiation, which lasts 3 turns and makes 10 damage first turn, 8 second and 7 third. Appears only in the hex, where bomb was targeted (not in surrounding hexes, which bomb may damage too). Doesn't damage cities, units only.
Unknown: whether damage of nukes is affected by carpet bombing and whether air leader can trigger when launching nukes.
Attack
Attack value is the quantity of damage unit can inflict. This number has specific random part based on unit's type.
Defence
Effect in % can be calculated like this: 1.2 * def + 1.4. If defence is 10, that means that damage will be reduced by 1.2 * 10 + 1.4 = 13.4 %. Defence affects any known damage, including nukes and ion canon.
Ion canon
Unlike wc3 it's not needed to upgrade special tech or build wonder for it. In some scenarios it is available from the very beginning, in conquests it is unlocked on tech level 7 after building lvl4 institute. If you already own lv4 institute when gained level 7 tech, another one have to be built to unlock ion cannon. Damage is affected by target unit's defence.
Tasks
Unlike wc3 there is no chance not to complete task, but in every task you have to use maximal available quantity of gens. Each task has 3 skills requirements. For each requirement met bonus resources are increased by 50%.
For completing tasks besides resources you get achievements and receive wearable medals. You get one random medal after completing 1, 5, 10, 20, 30, 45, 65, 90, 120, 155, 195 and 245 tasks.
Unlike wc3 land units except of coastal artillery can't shoot submarines. The only exception is when rocket artillery attacks unit, which stands close to submarine, submarine gets damaged too (looks like a bug, but it works this way).
Unlike wc3 cities restore hp only when unit is inside.
For completing conquest you get points: for quantity of captured cities, for gens used (less gens - more points) and for turns used (less turns - more points). Formula is the following:
Score for gens: 3000 for no gens, and as more gens you used and as better they are, as less points you get. May drop to something around 600.
Score for cities: 50 for each captured city.
Score for turns used: 1 / root(turns) * 1000000 (rounded down).
For 2 stars country, score is multiplied by 1.25. for 1 star country score is multiplied by 1.45 (rounded down).
