Because of Trafalgar grinding: 694 medals (and it will only get bigger today).
In my academy:
Zakrevsky: 455 medals, 3 star infantry general, infantry trainer, mass fire. I could make Maria a 4-star infantry general or Sakurako a 3-star. Sakurako, with three stars and bugle, would potentially be a better infantry general than Maria with three stars and Formation (their output could be compared side to side, and Sakurako certainly moves faster).
Kutaisov: 430 medals, 3 star artillery general, artillery trainer, siege master, explosive. I'd be buying him solely for the Regroup; I am already replete with artillery generals (princesses) and really don't need any more in conquests. Either Sophia or Isabela would go straight up to 5 stars.
In my shop:
Gilding cuirass: 465 medals. +4 cavalry defence. 4 damage off every hit Dumouriez or Sakurako takes on the way to Spain for the elite princess rush is going to add up by the time they're finished killing things.
Dragon Flag: 745 medals. +2 defence for units surrounding the general (and Sakurako can use flags). I'm tempted to grind up to this today and buy it, just to see what the effects really are.
So many temptations!
On the other hand, the generals are going nowhere until I choose to refresh them and I know these items will come up again. Meanwhile a second Military Camp for +6 supply or a second cavalry pistol or potent gunpowder or Ferguson rifle for +6 attack or a second Horse Artillery (+2 movement) for Isabela (since she has Geography) all beckon.
