While playing as Germany, and having a bit of a hellish time with the Soviet Zerg Rush. Italy had moderate suceess while I was being busy. It took over Marseilles, Yugoslavia, and Greece but lost Ethiopia.
I noticed that Africa definitely has way more cities in WC4 than WC3, so a presence in the colonies is a lot more important than ever. Italy has plenty of easy targets in Europe while being also larger in Africa than Spain. Perhaps the new auto-farm buddy similar to the Spain we once knew in WC3? Lol

Thanks to best75 digging this up for me... european-war-4.boards.net/thread/6671/3star-conquest-1939So in conclusion for what countries to pick for 1939 conquest (wll doable without general or upgrades) 1. Start with 2- star Spain 2. Get your resources and medals then with 1-star finland 3. Finish it off with 3-star Italy Sincerely Then Italy is definitely easier than Germany in the '39 conquest. Thank you, you two!

Italy is definitely easier. I did a italian conquest. Tried a German one and was overrun. I took africa as italy and was set. Italy is pretty easy, Germany is kind of tough.

Better to let AI spawn/spam its many gens than to limit it with only pre-spawned gens under player control.

Better to let AI spawn/spam its many gens than to limit it with only pre-spawned gens under player control. *cough* Soviets *cough* Last night, I made much more progression along my 2nd Germany game, and... Good grief! So many Soviet generals! So many! Lol, I guess this part doesn't really change from WC3 to WC4. Just the usual lol. Seriously speaking though... I felt like EVERY battle was the Battle of Stalingrad, just so much bloodshed. If they had left behind pools of blood, Poland and Russia would've been drowned in red puddles. (And North Sea would be dyed red too because of all of those suicidal Brit idiots dying trying to get a kiss on Dutch soil or something)

lol, Soviets are tough but not impossible.
In my playthrough, I played mostly defensively at first. After Poland went down, I built a large army in the Soviet border and waited for them to come. Then, I surrounded and destroyed them one by one. Zhukov was the toughest, I lost Guderian and Messe in the process, but Bock lived till the very end.
Once mainland France was taken, I moved Manstein to Poland to help out. I also, didn't bother about Donetsk or Stalingrad as Bulgaria and Italy took them, respectively.
Defend Köningsberg at all costs and only go for Riga after most Soviet generals are defeated. Then, it's easy.

To be honest, it is all about experience... I lost my first conquest for USSR. After a couple of weeks I completed it in 45 turns, though my tech tree and my generals (actually a general) were the same... My guess I can complete it now in 30-35 turns with Messe alone. Like in chess it is very important to know certain patterns in WC4...
