I didn't like the look of it when I first downloaded it but I'm well into it now, I've been playing it for about 5-6 weeks and am enjoying it just as much as I did WC3 and GoG2.

I would recommend it but with a warning that it requires a lot of grinding and repetitive gameplay

I liked the game, touched into some eras easy tech usually does not. The grinding for medals can be tough, some of the campaigns can be tough, but while I played I had a lot of fun.

I completed GoG and GoG Pacific, EW4 and WC3, so I know something about difficulty of ET games . And I can say honestly that EW5 was the most challenging ET game I ever played. It is an excellent tool to improve your personal patience, btw. After completing it you can live in one room with any terrible dictator

I would recommend it but with a warning that it requires a lot of grinding and repetitive gameplay I didn't realise it at the time, but this comment really is spot on! I've been waiting to get 600 scrolls so I can upgrade to Gunpowder Age for over 2 weeks now, am currently on 425 and can collect 91/week through the daily missions so about another 2 weeks to go In campaigns I've been stuck on Great Navigator 4 for about a week (not looking for any help thanks), and 3 of the previous 4 before that were fairly tough to get past. I can shorten the waiting time a little by playing conquests, but in my case probably only a day or two, and that's where the repetitive gameplay that Conrad referred to really comes into it. There are only so many city designs/templates in the conquests so you basically end up attacking the same ones over and over, just with different names and enemy personnel. Anyway, whinge over, I just wanted to acknowledge the veracity & precision of this comment and perhaps provide a little more detail for the uninitiated.

To be honest I hate it as well, and I have found a good solution. Don't play conquests at all. You can gather a necessary amount of literature simply by doing daily missions. You have to rest from time to time, or there is a chance that you loose your interest. Gunpowder age conquests give you the legendary Sword of Keel. I'm sure it it a decent motivation to return to conquests again.

My guess they placed it somewhere in conquests to make them more attractive

Just for the sake of posterity I upgraded to Gunpowder on the 18th, so 10 days after the above post. Now let's see how long to get to Industrial!

Just for the sake of posterity I upgraded to Gunpowder on the 18th, so 10 days after the above post. Now let's see how long to get to Industrial! Funnily, it could be much quicker than to Gunpowder (at least it was in my case), due to huge amount of literature in Gunpowder campaigns, and better ability to do faster discovery age conquests. When I was grinding to Gunpowder, the only quick way to get literature was repeatedly playing Ancient Greek conquest - which was terribly stultifying.

For me the Game posed a new area of gaming where we had almost all the ages together. Though the way the game had these, But the Gameplay was not quite good.
Taking medals and conquering territories may prove to be very timeconsuming.
Also we need to pay for unlocking the limit of generals which makes it even more difficult.
I believe that EW4 was more simpler and better than EW5.
Surely EW5 is downgrade of EW4.
