I just started world conqueror 4 and am looking for a decent general. I saw that you can get Rommel for 40% off if you do the missions. Does anyone know his start off price because I can't seem to find it.
Also wondering is it worth farming for gold to buy the troops or is Rommel worth it at all?

Rommel, base, costs 2785. With discounts, he costs roughly 1500-1700, I believe. He's worth it, but you definitely won't get the discounts without other really powerful generals. The suggested path is always Messe, because of how good he can be throughout the early game, and then save up for Leeb or go straight for Guderian. Leeb is the 2nd best arty general in the game (although some would say Govorov is trailing close behind, if not on par), and Guderian is simply the best general in the game.
I went straight for Guderian, so it's more than possible with only Messe. Although, I did immediately by Leeb afterwards. It was really just a challenge thing. Simply do all of the 1943 conquests, with one being S tier, and do Germany 1943 for that eras S tier. Also do campaign enough, although you might not totally beat the European section this early on. Some Domination stuff also helps, as a note.
If you're not going for an optimal route, then disregard this, I guess? Otherwise, I'd just ignore Rommel for now. Maybe do his first mission, if you want. It's simple enough.

The quest to reach the 40% is very hard, you will need super tanks and at least a couple of very solid tank generals (and the other two if posible with rumor skill), as you have to beat Montgomery And Alexander on heavy tanks with 900 and 1000 hp respectively and in a city they won't leave.
Even though i respect f2p players, I heavily suggest to buy Manstein, it will speed up your early game and give you very amusing moments whilst you play, you'll love him and will
If you desperately need a tank general and you have plenty of medals, dont wait until you get super tanks and get the 40% for Rommel, aim for Guderian. If you're low on medals, go for Messe or Valutin (the latter gives more value but the former has one of the best value/medal ratio).
