Had this game on several devices since I found it and always just started fresh to try different strategies. Now I'm looking to the future since I've got enough progress that makes me nervous about losing it lol. I'm playing on a galaxy tab now that has made me question its lifespan pretty much since the day I bought it, and always felt like this game could be somewhat hard on a device in general, especially late game conquests. So I know it will crap out eventually and would like to be proactive about it. How would I go about periodically saving my progress on an external source like my trusty 1tb catchall, to avoid the loss of data if it suddenly dies, or if I get a new device beforehand and just want to switch. Not worried about doing it for every single day I play, but for major milestones like I just got my Pyramids built last night would be preferred. I now know my google play acct restored my IAP gens, but as far as actual progress it doesn't seem to be saved anywhere but my device.
Also I don't update anything as much as I probably should, but didn't know if it was recommended for Wc3 or if even still occurring with 4 being out. I know eventually I'll start playing 4, but it doesn't exactly look dramatically different from 3 and now that I have decent progress (and finally understand the strategy & mechanics of this game) I'm not ready to switch just yet.

Something is better in wc4, something is worse, if you haven't cleared everything in wc3, that's not bad idea to finish it first. Regarding data migration, as I know, it's impossible without rooting both phones. Not sure if it's possible with rooting, but for sure it's impossible without it. So if you don't plan to root your new phone, it's impossible.
