Been wondering this for a while now but is it better to place your generals on level 1 units to have more leveling chances during campaigns/conquests or is there some benefit to dropping them in the higher level units you start with? I've always assumed that for conquests it's better to start with level ones, but idk about shorter campaigns

If your gens have Ace Forces or some skill that allows you to lvl up quickly, then put them in the best class of lvl 1 units you can deploy (lvl 1 commando, heavy tank, FA, RA, etc.)
Otherwise, deploy them on the best & strongest units on field.

Thanks, that's pretty much what I figured the best tactic was, just wasn't sure if there was any damage or health bonus to that. As far as leveling goes, does that mean that upgraded tech level means each unit has less chances for promotion/hp recovery than level ones? I've got a pretty firm grasp on the game by now, but still trying to figure out all the little nuances lol

Tech upgrades should add to base stats, unless it says, "Increase Rank of Troops/Increase lvl of Troops)

Yeah I get that, what I'm asking is if the units coming out of factories as lvl 2 or higher after tech upgrades as opposed to their base levels have less chances for getting field promotions

I think nobody is sure about this too.

Yeah I get that, what I'm asking is if the units coming out of factories as lvl 2 or higher after tech upgrades as opposed to their base levels have less chances for getting field promotions You mean chance to get higher level? That is achieved according to inflicted damage. Whether it is worth to start with low level unit or not - that depends on situation. For example, if you start with level 2 you can't get 10 hp for levelling from 1 to 2, but before you have made 200 damage (if you don't have AF) you receive more damage (level reduces received damage too). Also there is a chance that you don't lose any hp by the time you inflict 200 damage, so those extra 10 hp will be lost. In fact there is no a big difference, which level unit you use for gen, especially keeping in mind that almost in every situation you have some other more valuable reasons to choose particular unit for your gen.
