Just like in GoG3 a great Carrier General Have 3 great Skill set Explosives good when attacking Fort Carpet bombing Great even if the city is protected by AA For Naval star idk if Carrier damage based on Naval star. 4.8/5 (You will rarely see Carrier after Pacific, but can be great Artillery general (To destroy Fort))

Carrier damage based on Air Stars, though if enemy destroyer(or cruiser from one tile) attacked it, the counterattack will be based on Carrier Naval stars.

I saw the last post about Dowding and maybe give him industrial power. Until now i have Yamamoto with extra economy and industrial. I liked to switch it and make him a proud carrier general again. Is Wolfpack and early warning a good Combination, if i put him with the main fleet. Since i dont have doenitz with wolfpack. If i would have him, does the buff stack? Or does somebody else have different good skills for Yamamoto?

I would say early warning is a must for naval generals but Wolfpack would be a bad choice, because carrier is incompatible with Wolfpack both as an effect receiver or as the skill carrier’s vessel, not to mention if you are going to buy Donitz later.

Its been reported that explosives takes effect from Super Carriers, and of course Cruisers/Destroyers.

Its been reported that explosives takes effect from Super Carriers, and of course Cruisers/Destroyers. Only applies to attack types that receive influence from naval ability, which includes all non-carrier navy units and counterattacks done by carrier-type units, carriers and super carriers attack like airports and would be buffed by air force ability instead.

I now use this guy as my most aggressive general. Artillery Leader and Accuracy on Yamamoto go far when you need him to not be useless in the battlefield. Coupled with howitzer/priest skytrain this is very fun combination to use in battle.

I use Y'moto as artillery/air general often. He can be put on a B4 howitzer and skytrained/airlifted too.

disregarding the purchase price, is yamamoto still the ideal carrier general?

disregarding the purchase price, is yamamoto still the ideal carrier general? imho Chennault is the best as he has the potential to stop enemies from counterattacking. Now one has the potential to get Dowding, Arnold, Chennault (and Nimitz or Yamaguchi in special circumstances) as air gens, I don't really see the need for Yamamoto as he is simply much too expensive. But if you have the medals to spare, I don't see a reason to not get him.

I actually think he is a very good option if (and this may sound counterintuitive) we give FL and Sailor to him. Elite carriers (both Enterprise and Akagi) are very powerful Naval units (unlike regular carriers) so, it is possible to exploit it if we play more aggressively using elite carriers as front-line vessels. In counterattack Yamamoto's damage should be quite considerable. Moreover it is possible to use his Explosives too, if his carrier is attacked by a Fortress. Damage from Explosives, Sailor and FL do stack and, besides, we have a medal (or rather two medals) improving both FL and AL. It is quite a risky use of our elite carriers, I admit. But it is worth trying, I believe...
As I understand, the damage our carriers receive doesn't decrease the power of Air attacks. So, an elite carrier always can retreat behind the lines when it is seriously damaged.

Was using Yamamoto in Wipe out Enemy Challenge here on a Vanilla AC, so Ribbons change depending on activity. If i acquire another good Arty commander, (maybe Zhukov, have Kluge, Konev, Leeb, Zhang and Bradley on the bench), I will switch out his industry skill for another more adept in Naval scenarios....especially if future upgrades call for it (future new Cold War events?).

It is actually possible to use Yamamoto in several decent ways, I think. With two skills specific to Artillery (let's say AL and Accuracy) he is hardly any worse than Neonen as an Artillery general. With two economic skills he is an excellent candidate to stay within city borders all the time. With two Naval skills he is an excellent elite carrier Commander. The ideas of how to use him heavily depend on the quality and quantity of other generals in our teams. And, of course, on the difficulty of challenges we face or may face in the future.
