I respect people’s opinions, but I really don’t see why someone would rate Guderian 1 star.

May be because he is so costly, and people are frustrated and can't get him as their first general in the game.
But, I must say, he is cheaper as compared to WC3, where his cost was 3000+. But since campaigns now give 30 medals instead of 50, so things are somewhat balanced.

At first I rated him a 4, but that was with no added skills. I would rate him a 5 now because Plain fighting gives you and extra star when you pay attention, and Rumor is rumor.
It is annoying when Guderian drops 200 but can't kill something
Vatutin for comparison, has dropped 150 at times

At most, it warrants 4 stars if the general isn’t good enough, but still good, to compensate it. This isn’t the case with Guderian, however. |

Must have been, but I believe the GVM (Guderian Vatutin Meese) panzerwaffen team is a great combination to live off of. Or you can be stoic and take me out of the picture altogether. I don't bloody care. |

My only Gens are the aformentioned Guderian, Vatutin, and Messe.
It is possible to get into cold war with these guys, I don't even have full tech either.

I believe you will need at least half Cold War tech to complete the normal campaign. I would also recommend an artillery general and a navy general. For artillery, try getting Konev if your HQ is already Level 30 since this will allow you to use Super Artillery/Super Rocket. If not, then buy Leeb. Although he’s silver tier, he’s better than Zhukov. For the navy general, it’s the same case. Try getting Nimitz if your HQ is already Level 30, since this will allow you to use Super Carriers. Otherwise, get Kuznetsov to serve as a navy general. He’s bronze tier but he’s far more cost effective than any other navy general except Nimitz. |

Try Leeb, maybe throw in Mannerheim and Kuznetsov or Halsey (wildcard) as well.

A carrier general or an artillery general is a requirement on this stage. So Leeb or Kuznetsov.

Definitely artillery. Once you've gotten Konev in your hq you will find yourself struggling less often in cold war
