I'm in that point of the game where I am going at a turtle's pace when progressing medal-wise. Currently, I am in the Cold War scenarios on normal (though on hard mode, I have yet to beat the last mission for the Allies on the European Campaign), but my skill and general upgrades are literally extremely sub-par (I only upgraded my generals to green, and all skill levels are untouched, though I did add skills to the ones that I could do). My generals are quite solid, however. Messe, Leeb, Guderian, Nimitz, and Konev. As for technology, my infantry, tank, and artillery tech are borderline Cold War or so. The rest is sub-par, being barely progressed.
My question is what I should focus on (for I will probably aim at the conquests in order to achieve my focus), so that I can beat those accursed missions keeping me from getting medals.
Options:
Focus on tech
Upgrade generals and their skills
Get more generals (Aiming at Rommel for now, other general recommendations would be fine)
Missions that are truly paining me as of now:
Time of Glory: Hard
Line of Europe: Normal
Western European Union: Normal
Much the problems with these missions is that I probably need better skills...

All those campaigns required luck & skill. (I was in the exact same shoes as you)
Line of Europe normal requires you to hold either all, some or at least 1 of the 3 targets. I barely cleared it the first time by wiping out the Berlin army group & praying the Anglo-French counterattack distracts the Danish army group.
Storm of Steel hard requires you to blitz through mainland Asia quickly so that Nimitz can bomb the islands.
Destination Berlin requires firepower.
Time of Glory requires firepower as well.
So does Western European Union.
I'd recommend swapping Messe with Rokossovsky though.

Skill wise, except for Guderian's max lvl Blitzkreig & Armoured Assault, all other skills are either lvl 1 or 2, except Konev's lvl 3 Accuracy & Nimitz's lvl 3 AF

I appreciate the help. I was able to do Storm of Steel though. I will try and get more medals so I can upgrade the hell out of Guderian.

For me, this is the point of transitioning. My generals didn't have rumour at all so I started putting rumour on all of them. I had 6 generals at this point and you really need a 7th since Nimitz can be sacrificed for a tank gen on some scenarios.
Tech wise you at least need maxed tank to have a real shot. Air and missile techs are really important too. Grind turkey 1980 to get your tech up.
The game started to slow down for me on cold war silver star mission 6. After I changed skills for my generals I started to progress slowly again. Then hit another wall on ISIS missions. 1980 is even harder since you have to grind for medals. I grinded for two months and can only beat up to silver 8 without save load.

In fact the only two critical tech upgrades are 100% assault for tanks and 100% no retalliation for RAs. You should focus on getting these, though it doesn't disturb you to collect medals for buying Rommel/upgrading your gens. Regarding gens, you need Rommel and than you can start to upgrade existing. Somewhere you can substitute Nimitz with someone else, but that's quite expensive and if you add rumor for Nimitz he would be very useful in ship and in RA too quite useful. And even lv5 rumor is cheaper than cheapest tank gen worth to buy - Vatutin. I have cleared modern war normal with team like yours (Timoshenko instead of Messe) and something about three rumors 4-5. Not 100% sure, but I think with these 6 gens (sure, making upgrades on my way) I will be able to clear modern war hard and hopefully domination battles too.

I was able to complete Destination Berlin, but it was extremely painful, even with what I have for tech and generals. Luckily, it was done in 30 turns. My path was quite interesting, as my troops went on one straight line from the city south of starting location to Munich to Nuremberg to Prague to the city west of starting location. From there, I literally circled Berlin so that I took everything but Berlin. During this whole time, I was building nukes. Finally, I just threw every troops I had in the pot and nuked it.

One upgraded general changes everything. Guderian with paz leader 5 and, armoured as. 5 with medals will hit like a nuke or even better. I suggest u to upgrade your prime guys skills max. This realy changes everything. |
