I want to add Princesses like Maria or Fatimah for temporary use. I plan to regroup them into other gens such as Lan or Sophia later, after they have served their purpose. For nobility and rank to add to my useful generals. Should I do this? Is it worth losing these princesses?

It depends. There are some princesses that I have never used, and never plan on using them. However, if you want to use them as intermediary generals, then I would support that decision. Just make sure that don't regroup them when you don't want to, or else they're gone forever!

All I wanted were some more temporary gens to help me a little till I get better gens.

Then by all means use them! I might have been a little confusing in my statement earlier, so I'll try and clean it up. Using princesses as intermediate generals is a good move in that they're free. The ones such as Sophia, Lan, Isabela, and even Kate make strong generals in late game, so its wise to keep those.

Only going to use her for a short time. I don’t mind losing my princess collection so this is ok with me. Still yet to get Lan or Victoria!

You should keep Fatimah however, as she has both economic master and archticture. These skills will help in those missions or conquests later where you have little resources at the start. There is books you can buy that help any general of course, and IAP Generals. Fatmiah, though not a fighter, she does already has the skills, just sit her on any city in the rear let her build it at almost half the cost, getting almost double in return, same as farms and factories.
Good luck on getting Lan,Isabella,Victoria. I never got any them, managed to finish though.
