I guess that my praising of Crerar only holds true for a f2p early and mid game scenario. And Gone I find it really interesting how HQ level is the thing that's restricting you. Would have never thought of that.

Would have never thought of that. You need a high HQ Level to be able to use “super-type” units. That’s why even if I buy like 700 medals to be able to buy 40% Rommel I cannot clear his missions because my HQ Level is 27, and I need HQ Level 30 to be able to use Super Tanks. Otherwise it would be a breeze since I have Manstein and Guderian. Fortunately, Erwin is the last General in my “must-have” list. After that, I will use the medals to upgrade my generals instead.

Also, an Italy Conquest 1939 only takes 3 hours or less which will allow me to farm resources effectively. Each Conquest that I clear normally allows me to buy 1 important tech slot (Such as 75% Tank attack-again chance)

I had time today and completed one of them with 3 stars from the first attempt. So maybe there is no need to upgrade all of my generals' ranks as well. Tried UN9 hard. From first try I was close to get 2 stars, but things went wrong when americans turned against me, after that I had some chance to get 1 star, but that failed too. Though in this scenario idea when your allies turn against you worked ok (not like in normal mode, where that doesn't affect anything). At second try I adjusted my strategy for that and got 3 stars on the last turn with some $120 and 2 tech left. All my gens were barely alive and if I hadn't finished that turn, gens would die next turn. Though I had a bit bigger reserve, just shoot more missile that needed to be 100% sure that my Guderian with some 100 hp left will kill enemy and capture city. But I also made some mistakes, which could be fixed. My gens have no rank upgrades (just red and with default rank), my Guderian has maxed skills (four lv5 and one lv4), Rommel has 3 lv 4-5 skills and 2 not upgraded, other gens have only lv5 rumor and may be some of them have 1-2 skills upgraded 1 level. In fact rumor was key factor which helped me very much. In fact I think for UN hard is ok if you have one good tank gen with blitz, PL and AA medal and 4 gens with lv5 rumor. And the best combination is 3 tank, 2 art and 1 navy. “3 tank, 2 art and 1 navy”. Good. I already have Manstein and Guderian for tank, going to get Rommel. I have Leeb and Konev for Artillery and Nimitz for navy. I also have Dowding for air (Very powerful on Carriers, he was critical for getting 40% Nimitz early) and for gathering more resources, and Rundstedt for Infantry missions and Commando roles.

A bargain, if you ask me. He can become a great tank general at the cost of his infantry stars and infantry leader. Or he can become a nice, supporting infantry general by maxing his skills. Infantry Leader and Crowd Tactics are great skills. You can give him the Infantry Leader Medal and the Crowd Tactics Medal. All of that for a price of 375 medals? Wow! The second cheapest general in the game. Picking up where this left an opening... I have Messe and I'm going to get Crerar ( btw I also have Terauchi on artillery )... Now picture this - with these 3 generals I surround them with units and move enmasse into tears enemy... B R U T A L. BTW on another note: Why does the Crerar in the Canadian Conquest have 2 open slots and is a Major and the one you can buy is only a lieutenant and has no open slots What's up with that?!?

AI is weird in conquests that's why. Anyways don't get Crerar. He's garbarge to be honest. Instead save up for Guderian. He really won't disappoint you. Now imagine Guderian, Messe, and Terauchi (or Leeb if u plan to swap him) on European/Pacific mission. Absolute annihilation for your enemy.

If you notice, almost all of the generals have 5 skill slots, though some, like Nasser (Egypt) have 2, with the first 3 blocked. it’s really Weird how the ai spawns them. Also, the ai gives the generals usually better ranks and nameplates depending on the year, though there are exceptions. In 1950, Bagramyan, who should have a red nameplate, has a blue one for some reason.

In the unlock APK, almost all the generals are written with 5 skills (in the JSON file, at least), but this is usually restricted by the code of individual stages/conquests.
Also Crerar bad. Get Messe instead.

He's overrated.
