I have read Manstein's thread rating the various generals, and I have unsubstantiated theories about which generals to buy. What I am hoping for is a few opinions on which generals to buy and when to buy, (or sell,) them. What I have deduced is that six generals are the optimum, with three Tank Generals, two Artillery Generals, and a hybrid Air/Naval general. I even have an idea or two about which guys fit in which slots. But this is end-game. What about a starting account? Are there starter generals to help me and Norman Newguy complete missions and advance? Or is it a bad idea to buy generals that will later be discarded? When does it make sense to advance the Eyes Covered generals? If such a guide already exists, please point me to it, but I really want some diverse opinions from multiple sources. Thanks in advance for any advice, and please don't try to spare my feelings. I'd rather be told I am wrong than go into battle with a crappy lineup.

Thanks for linking.
I am going strait for Guiderian, but I must admit to getting more medals from The Pyramids lately than from conquests. I have gotten better at the Campaigns. Fall Gelb still eludes me but now, at least, I'm within a turn or two of that third star. Medals are getting difficult to earn, but I'm learning.

Let's see if I can rephrase my issue: upon achieving Guiderian, I will be, according to the linked guide, at mid-game. At that point, should I continue buying generals? Or should I pause to buy some tech improvements? What is required in order to to succeed at that point?
