Just looking for a quick rundown or a point to the relevant thread please.
How do you earn them?
How many can one acquire?
When buying T2 generals you need the medals & the emblems, right?
They seem like a very scarce resource so I presume those of us who don't spend real money on the game should use them very wisely.

Coalition or Imperial Eagle or by IAP (it's an IAP resource)m You can choose to either use medals or emblems. You can choose not to use them at all, you can choose to just purely rely on farming & sing medals.

Ah ok, so it's a choice between the two rather than both - I don't want to test it out just yet, I'll take your word for it It makes sense to keep them for a T3 guy then, assuming you can get 6 without laying out $?

I read somewhere (but can't find it again) that whether or not you get an emblem for completing a series of campaigns is dependent to some degree on how many stars you earned, is there any truth in that?

Doubt so, isn't the free emblems earned scripted to only be given out after completing specific campaigns.

Doubt so, isn't the free emblems earned scripted to only be given out after completing specific campaigns. Yeah that's what I understood, wish I could remember who posted it. To be honest the value of free emblems is quite limited. It is possible to earn 4 in total (1 at the brginning and 3 for campaigns). That means that you can hire T2 general for 4 emblems without medals. But if you can complete those campaigns - you don't need to buy anyone anymore. Without a solid team it is simply impossible to complete RoA or SnS. Besides, there is a probability that you won't receive an emblem for Emperial Eagle even if all missions including the hidden ones are completed with 5 stars. I played EW4 two times. Once I got an emblem, another time I was unlucky. Happy side of the coin is that they are not valuble anyway

I have 3 now and presumably won't get the 4th until I finish SNS so it seems I may as well use them to buy a T2 general now, no?

As far as I remember you won't be able to hire T3 general for 4 emblems anyway. There are quite a lot of capable generals in T2. I would recommend Golitsyn or Berthier for cavalry (the former is quite strong as he is, but the latter could become the second best Cav general in the game eventually, if you will make some investements of time and medals ). Dobeln and Oudinot for Infantry. But you have to pay at least for some of them 4 emblems.

Iron Duke, Dobeln, the best free infantry general, costs 3 emblems as well as Scharnhorst

If you are completely free to play and complete every campaign you should have 4 emblems which is enough for a tier 2 gen but not a tier 3.
