Since I’m currently attempting a non-IAP run (Which the auto Netherlands Conquest helps a lot for), I will be getting Alexander I as one of my 3 Artillery generals for the Crimean War ocnce I’m far enough in the game. I had napoleon and I still got him. He is quite great. Give him a defense item and a damage item, and he will be the general on your team who does not need any healing items. Giving a general an ambulance is almost like granting him invincibility, though.

Alex doesn’t have anything other than 2x salvo imo as artillery is just not as spammable as the other two unit types and mountains are hard to use and costs a lot of movement to walk onto, and artillery has pretty low move.
Still, 2x salvo is pretty decent and better than most people in this game, though I personally find Scharnhorst, John and Sophia to be better than both aura artillerymen.
4 stars I think.

Mediocre, terrible right out the box. He does have aura, but expect to spend 2000- 5000 medals to get him up to speed. I agree with kevin anyone else would be a better choice. His best is when you get him free in conquest.

His best is when you get him free in conquest. If you farm the neds, 2000-5000 medals is nothing. It will take you about a week. I kind of agree with you both. Mountain fighting is good. Its not great, like jungle or excellent like plain. 2x salvo is amazing, but mahmud ii also has it. Alexander also has terrible artillery ability at only 6 (hahaha) but pretty decent battle ability at 86 max. Sophia’s is also pretty lousy but her skillset makes up for it. Unless you have 3 or more artillery generals, I think you are right. Alex may not be the absolute best choice. But on the otherhand, alex is also not a bad choice when paired with mahmud ii. In missions where you are given another strong artillery general, having alex and mahmud ii will give you a great strategic advantage. Verdict: 5/5 stars, buying him is never a mistake. But sophia and john are also 5/5 generals.

I like how in this game, army generals are more powerful than monarchs in general due to their military experience. Even though monarchs are the highest authority of their kingdom in the game’s setting, their military experience isn’t as good as their generals's, and thus the monarchs are weaker, at least for the most part. Karl being more powerful than Franz II is a good example. There are exceptions, such as Mahmud II being the best general of the Ottoman Empire, even though he is a monarch.

To fill my roster, I’m getting this guy instead of Barclay (After I get all of my main generals). He will be much more useful in Crimean War.

You will have a lot more fun! Okay. This way, I will be able to have: 4 Cavalry generals (Blucher included) 3 Artillery generals (Napoleon included) 3 Infantry generals 2 Admirals But I think I will be buying 2 slots so that I have 4 Artillery generals. That way I won’t have to use Sakurako and Nelson on Artillery during Crimean War.

I am doing 5 cavarly (davout lan blucher murat dabrowski), 4 infantry (wellesley, karl, massena, barclay), 4 artillery (scharny napoleon alexander mahmud), and 2 navy (nelson and sakurako)
