This is mission 4 of the Declaration of Independence campaign. The objective is to defend 3 objectives for 16 rounds. It is relatively simple to achieve 3 stars.
First, the British troops in the West are going to attack your city. You start off with cavalry, a light artillery, and an infantry unit.
You start off with a sizeable amount of money so you can build a grenadier on round 1 to assist in the defense. After you kill the attacking units send your squad to Saratoga.
Also on Round 1, Saratoga itself is surrounded by enemies. It belongs to your ally so unfortunately no hands on defense, but fortunately the enemy is fairly easy to repel. Put Jourdan on the light artillery and make sure you build infantry in your city to keep sending reinforcements.ย
There is a British cavalry general in the east that will begin to advance. Position your infantry to block his path and prevent him from hitting Saratoga. Make sure you build bunkers with your soldiers as it no longer ends their turn and will significantly reduce the general's effectiveness. By this time, your soldiers from the West should be attacking the remaining soldiers around Saratoga. After killing the cavalry gen, Clinton in the north will start advancing. At this point your position should be very strong with several artillery or infantry units and he will go down easy.
While you are defending Saratoga, the British artillery general will advance South to try and take one of your objectives. He's no problem at all, you can largely ignore him. Just build a militia in the city to decrease his damage on it. By the time round 16 rolls by he still won't have captured it. Easy 3 stars.
You can use your funds how you want, I personally built many light artilleries and a couple of forts to defend Saratoga. Any infantry will probably work too. Your income is pretty generous for this mission.
