Been playing the game consitently for over a year and have finsihed all campaigns and conquests for all countries etc. and decided to post a starter guide that will tell you everything you need to know for the start of the game and how to get better quickly.
The game is set in the Napoleonic Wars and includes many of the generals that were evident at the time such as Napolean himself.
GENERALS
Generals are unique character that can boost troops in multiple different ways through their abilities and stars for each category. The categories come in as follows:
- Infantary
- Artillery
- Mobility
- Cavalry
- Economy
- Fortress
The number of stars each general comes with indicates how good they are, but some generals who may have the same stars may be better than others due to the abilities they have that might make them achieve more damage. All generals come in tiers and the worst ones at the bottom, costing little amounts of medallions, and the better ones costing emblems:
- Tier 1 generals - usually have 1-3 stars on a specific category, e.g. artillery, and cost around 270-450 medallions. They are normallly used to regorup generals in order to gain more stars for the better generals you may have
- Tier 2 generals - usually have 3-5 stars on a specific category, e.g. Scharnhorst has 4* artillery. They cost a lot more than Tier 1 generals at around 600-950, but are very good for completing campaigns and conquests very quickly. I would reccommend completing a few of the starting campaigns and generate medallions to buy these generals
- Tier 3 generals - these are usually the best of the best, e.g. Napolean and have always got 4-5 stars on their best category. They cost 6 emblems which can only be attained by completing campaigns. Therfore, you will have to pay some money in order to get these generals as campaigns only give you 5 emblems
It is very important to buy specific generals that have the best abilities and categories. For example, some generals that have stars in the economy and fortress category are less viable than that of generals in the artillery or cavalry category.
These are a list of the best generals in each category and tier:
Tier 1 -
Infantry:
Rowland, Zakrevsky and Hull are generals that I would recommend for the best damage
Blasius is the best tier 1 general if you are looking to destroy forts
Lusignan and Wrede are average infantary generals that are useful for campaigns etc.
Cavalry:
Dumouriez or Bubna are probably the best generals that provide flat damage
L'Estocq and Charles is quality with good nobility as well.
Artillery:
Marmont, Sokolnicki are great at causing damage due to their engineering ability

Navy:
Heavy hitter here are Cronstedt, Falsen, Brueys, Chichagov
Tier 2 generals:
Ney: Highly recommended cavalry general. Very nice skills: Spy, Mobility and Siege Master. Deadly against anything that lives, moves and is your enemy.
Wittgenstein: Multi-role general: 5 stars in infantry and 4 stars in cavalry. Fence isn’t a good skill, but his damage output is just flabbergasting.
Sidney: Very good navy general for a reasonable price. 2 navy-focused skills make him an excellent choice to destroy enemy navies.
Oudinot: The Jean Lannes of the tier-2 generals. VERY recommended. He provides good damage even when injured.
Golytsin: He subdues countries within a few turns. The best cavalry in tier 2 and should be tier 3.
Dobeln: Even better than Oudinot and 75 medals cheaper. The two share Infantry Tactics and Formation. The only difference between the two is that Dobeln has Mass Fire while Oudinot has Bugle skill. Mass Fire > Bugle.
You want to have these:
Collingwood: Sidney, but then with 4 stars in artillery. Fireproof skill is handy though. He's a beast in navy and artillery.
Grouchy: Recommended. 4 stars in artillery, 2 good skills for artillery.
Jourdan: Multi-role general. Nice in infantry, but also fine in artillery with 2 artillery-focused skills
Picton: For the price of merely 750 medals, you have a 4-star infantry general with 2 excellent skills.
Scharnhorst: 4 stars in artillery, he has Accurate and Engineering skill. Maybe better than Grouchy
Verhuell: 4 stars in Navy and 2 navy-focused skills while he costs less than 800 medals.

Drummond: 4 stars in artillery, Spy and Ballistics skill combined with his quite low price (around 780 medals) make him a cheap, good quality artillery general.
Ushakov: 5 stars in Navy, 705 medals. That's an easy choice to make: Buy. Do watch out that his skills are quite bad.

Tier 3 generals I would not recommend buying as they cost money to purchase the rest of the emblems required. However, if you do wish to pay money into getting the 'best' generals in the game, I would only recommend, Napolean as he is the best artillery general in the game and Lannes as he is the best infantary general in the game.
NOBILITY AND HEALTH
Nobility is the amount of health you regain after each round. The higher the nobility of a general the better the health regain: the max nobility of a general is 10, although this can be boosted to upwards of 14 with items such as tents that you can buy for hefty price (usually around 700 medallions) from headquarters and campaign maps.
I know that this is a common strategy, but for any new players out there, I have the best way to increase the nobility of your general incredibly fast:
1. Take a campaign mission called Chain the Beast in the English campaign (any new player can do this mission as it is right at the start.
2. Once in the mission area, assign your general of choosing to the infantary division and move towards the Ottoman empire.
3. Once landed in the port of the Ottomans, you want to ensure that you take the town directly across from it.
4. When you have taken the town, move your general across the farms that are positioned there, and press the undo button.
5. Repeat this constantly taking the Ottomans farms and then going back.. You will see your nobility increase dramatically.
Health is one of the best things a general can have as it increases their chance of survivability. The best way to increase health for a general is just to play campaigns and conquests and try to do as much damage as possible. If it is getting to hard, you can spend medallions not only on upgrading the health, but also the nobility.
REGROUPING
Regrouping is where you buy generals and regroup them with other generals in order to get a better general in the outcome. This is a tricky process as they sometimes increase the nobilty and health of the general and sometimes dont as they dont have enough health or nobility to increase it. When regrouping the main thing you do is to increase the rank of each category, e.g. artillery by using trainers. The main way to do this is by buying some of the tier generals that cost around 300 medallions that have the trainer ability that you are looking for, e.g. Artillery Trainer. Then go to the general you want to increase the rank of and click the regroup button. Then select the low tier general and regorup with the other general and you will see the rank increase. This will make the damage of your general increase with the higher rank they have.
TYPES OF TROOPS
There are 3 main types of troops in the game; Cavalry, Infantary, and Artillery. Each one come with special strengths, but also weaknesses that make them better or worse than the others in specific conditions.
Infantary: these are very good at destroying forts and providing protection with other units
Militia - Troop constituted by civilians. Quite weak. And terrible defense capabilities make this units combat usefulness run thin, as its only real advantages are that it is cheap and can be created at any city as has the least requirements. These are the best troops to use when trying to hold onto a specific town or base etc.
Line Infantary - Trained infantry. Main force of land troops. These troops are very helpful for support/defense. (they have the highest defense for infantary at a cheap price and come in very useful when attempting to stall
Light Infantry - Maintain high movement in various terrains. High shot accuracy, low defense. They provide high amounts of damage and mobility for a cheap price.
Grenadier - Constituted by well-built infantries. Strong capability. Can attack still target with grenades. They are the best units to use in taking out forts if you dont have the resources
Guards - Elite infantry with high offense and defense. Can attack still target with grenades. Basically the grenadier with more health, damage and more expensive. These are also the best at destroying forts if you have the resources. These are the best unit to use a general with.
Machine Gun - The new weapon can deal deadly strike to infantry can cavalry with continuous fire. Movement is quite low. I would not recommend using this troop as they are very expensive and not the best unless a general equipped
Artillery: these are very good as they can shoot targets from a range meaning that they cannot be counter-attacked
Light Artillery - Good firepower and wide range. Can reinforce or cover other troops. Strong against low health enemy unit. These are the best to rapidly build.
Heavy Artillery - Heavy firepower and wide range. Can easily suppress enemy with firepower. These are the best troops to use with artillery generals as they provide the best damage
Siege Artillery - Artillery specialized for destroying constructions. Unable to attack close target (only 2 spaces). Movement is quite low. Use generals with skill "spy" and they will reck forts and coastal areas.
Rocket - New weapon capable of burning enemy's camps completely. Defense is very weak. They are very good at killing enemies that are sitting in bases and can provide a area of effect, hitting multiple targets in one shot.
Cavalry:these have a unique talent, they can get another shot after killing an enemy, making them good at killing hordes
Light Cavalry - High movement but low defense. Charge can decrease enemy's morale. Best spam cavalry unit.
Heavy Cavalry - Good offense and defense .Charge can decrease enemy's morale. Not used as much as other units as quite costly for their strengths.
Guards Cavalry - Elite cavalry with highest capability. Charge can decrease enemy's morale. These are very expensive so make sure you have enough resources.
Armored Car - New armored vehicle equipped with machine gun. Charge can decrease enemy's morale. Highly powerful unit, especially with a cavalry general (Golyitson).
Princesses
These are special generals that can be acquired when completing conquest modes in under 65 rounds. There are a total of 8 princesses in the game and each one is different to the others:
Sophia - Russia / Explosive, Spy, Siege Master / she is best used with an artillery general and siege artillery
Victoria - Great Britain / Mass Fire, Bugle, Assault Art, Defense Art / she is very good used with guards, but is normally regrouped
Isabela - France / Accurate, Ballistics, Engineering, Geography / she is said to be the best artillery princess
Kate - United States / Steersman, Navigation, Fireproof / she is the only princess that can be won from the America conquest unlike the others which are the Europe conquests, and is the only princess that is good on ships
Maria - Austria / Nobleman, Formation, Nobility / she is one of the most useless princesses and can be regrouped easily
Sakurako - Japan / Accurate, Strike, Bugle, Banner / she is the best fort defender if you are looking for that. If not, regroup with other generals to make them more ppowerful
Fatimah - Ottoman / Economics Master, War Master, Architecture / she is very good if you want a business trader in the game but other than that she can be easily regrouped
Lan - Qing / Assault Art, Leadership, Surprise, Strike / she is the best cavalry princess and maybe the best princess
The ASIAN princesses require the user to complete the European conquest in under 35 rounds, whereas the other princesses apart from Kate only require less than around 65. Kate is the only American princess and requires around 50 rounds in the American conquest to obtain. The easiest princess to get is Sophia and she is very good when upgraded (60 rounds)
The best way to win the Europe conquest quickly is by using the HRE 1798 strategy that a lot of people on this board have posted and explained in great detail (pictures)
The best way to win the American conquest quickly is by using either Great Britain if you don't have many generals, but if you have a few good generals, it is worth playing Russia. Once again there are many posts of this on the forum
This game is pretty easy to get better at with the time played and requires a lot of dedication. There are many great posts on this forum to help you out. My favourites are:
