I have around 700 medals also have lannes as primary infantry (second is gate and other clinton) and which should i get? Massena seems cheaper but no item slot so they are around same price.

I would get Massena because in the endgame he will be stronger than Barclay. They both have a max rank of prince but Massena has a higher total attack bonus of around 4% and formation master skill.

Really don't know why you hesitate. Massena has same max title, better base stats and 1 additional good skill (critical strike). As you said, the price is same because you should pay to upgrade Massena Rank by 1 level. Only initial advantage of Barclay is the level of skill. You should pay a bit (about 300 to 400 medals) to make Massena equal to Barclay in skill level. Massena for sure as my choice  |

There is not a big difference between them in any respect. Therefore Massena is preferable because he has 5 skills. And I have to say that Formation master is a good skill. As I said in another thread I think Massena is the best Infantry Master in the game, and Karl and Barclay are behind him a bit. |

If you have the medals to buy Massena then you should probably just stick with what you have until you get enough medals to buy Washington.
If you are getting a trump card in a game, make sure it’s a trump card that triumphs all other trump cards.

IMO Karl and Massena are better than Washington although Washington is my first buy Infantry beside Wellesley. |

Yea Massena is my #2 rated infantry general after Karl, especially if they are played together. Infantry commander is such a strong skill. W

Karl and Washington can reach emperor which increases their battle ability and their damage input. Massena’s biggest flaw is that he can’t even reach King. |

Massena might not be the best infantry general in the game but he is a blessing for me. I have never been a guy that chooses good first generals(actually, I am the king of crappy gens), but I think this time I scored a good purchase.
I don't know about Barclay though.
