I like getting new generals because who doesn’t, but should I be upgrading my current ones more before getting new ones?

It depends on how many good generals you have. The campaign missions have a max of 6 generals to deploy so I would upgrade current generals once you have 6 good generals. Since you won't be able to deploy your new generals if you buy more.

Get 6 good gold generals, preferably the ones that this community can agree on who are the strongest and upgrade them to their maximum potential. And also look out on the tech tree so that you can upgrade their mobility for even faster campaign mission completion.

So far I only have Napoleon Davout and Bismarck (Of course all the starting gens too)
