I did a test to clear the role of Att and Def attributes of units. Hope that it ll help you guys to understand more about the game as you may have money and time but knowledge help you make better choices spending.
Firstly, I chose: Challenge tab - Lannes IV - The French Heavy Cav at the mid of the map - make him move to the forrest mountainous terrain to attack the British Heavy Cav there. Did this procedure 100 times, recorded the damage each side done with any effects appeared: crit. damage, decrease morale, miss. (No general joined, only normal units from both sides)
After the first 100 round, there were 20 round that one of the two sides or both sides missed (red Miss!) or did crit. damage (red number), so I did the procedure 26 times again to make sure we collect enough datas of 100 round that both sides did normal damage to each other. Note that the "decrease morale" effect appeared after the normal damage had been applied so those round with blue eagle appeared were also valid.
And this is the result analysis:
1. French heavy cav: Att(60) - Def(39) - Cold weapon - Heavy armor - Mountain
_crit.damage done: 4/100 times (5/126 times)
_miss: 6/100 times (9/126 times)
_decrease enemy morale: 14/100 times (16/126 times)
_Average normal damage of 100 round: 35.12
_Max normal damage: 41
_Min normal damage: 28
_Average crit.damage: sum 245/ 5 times = 49
_Max crit.damage: 54
_Min crit.damage: 41
2. British heavy cav: Att(72) - Def(48) - Cold weapon - Heavy armor - Forrest mountain
_crit.damage done: 8/100 times (9/126 times)
_miss: 3/100 times (4/126 times)
_decrease enemy morale: 18/100 times (19/126 times)
_Average normal damage of 100 round: 44.49
_Max normal damage: 52
_Min normal damage: 36
_Average crit.damage: sum 520/9 times = 57.77
_Max crit.damage: 70
_Min crit.damage: 50
So you guys see the Def attribute is the percentage deduction of enemy attack? And maybe there are more things you guys should show me?
