Last time I did a small test using two HeavyCavs in the mission Challenge - Lannes V, but maybe there are too many hidden buffs and laws that affected the result analysis. So today I did the test again using: Conquest - French Davout's Heavy Cav attack the Austrian Light Cav near him. I'm goin to post my result after this but firstly I want to explain the mechanic of skills and unit attributes according to all tests done:
1. The Def number of your unit is the % that enemy's Attack number be reduce. In example you have 50 Def, the unit attack you has 80 Att, so the damage you received will be around 40. And the range of enemy's damage output will be approximately 32-48. The higher the damage, the larger this range will be.
2. Halo skills add 20 to your Attack, and this sum will be buff by any skills with "% increase" and your Abilities. Example: a heavy cav has 60 Att, Murat has 60 Battle ability and 60 Cav ability (sum 30%), level 5 Halo skill (+20 Att for his unit and others), level 4 Plain fighting (+20% fighting on plains). So if we put Murat in to lead the unit, this heavy cav's Attack on plains will be: (60+20) x (100%+30%+20%) = 120.
3. The Survivability skills add a % number to the crit.chance and miss chance of the unit. Example: base crit.chance of units is 3%, if you put Karl with level 5 "Formation master" (+10% crit.chance) in, so his unit's crit.chance will be 13%. On the other hand, if Washington with level 5 "Ambush" standing on the mountain and being attacked by Cavs, the miss chance of the Cavs will be 15%.
4. Any skill with "+20 damage when..." will add 20 to your Attack and this number won't be buff by the "% increase" skills or your Abilities, this number will also be affected by enemy's Def. Example: Napoleon with level 5 Salvo (+20 damage using Art), attack a unit with 50 Def, so the damage increase in this situation will be 10.
5. The crit.damage in my tests are approximately 150% of normal damage output.
6. Alert skill increase 20 of your Def fighting against cannon balls, you don't need to stay far away from Artilleries to trigger this skill, so it's 20 Def increase even when you attack an Art unit and he fight back.
That's all for now guys, do you have any question?
