For this list, can you assume that the general in question has a aura buff applied, as Masséna with one can deal more damage with his infantry master compared to Lannes unaffected by it.
I am looking for the general that compliments someone with infantry master the best. For example, would Karl + Lannes be better or worse than Karl plus Washington. Any feedback will be appreciated. Thanks for reading.

Outside of attacking cav or a city, Washington will be consistently better than Lannes due to his stats, crit and defensive skills.

True, but is it really worth sacrificing tunnel over shelter 2.0 and ambush. Plus with emperor, it is ridiculously expensive to reach that rank with gold medals and all it offers is some bonus battle ability. In my opinion Lannes is better than both as he offers more than either do, and do so with a much lower price tag. I am still rather confused about what is so good about Washington, as Suvorov seems to be better than him at least for me.

If the only consideration is how much damage you can land in a single hit, then sure Lannes will hit for more, but in later stages you won’t be one shorting even the grunt units, so you will get hit. Having lower hp means your attack is lower as well as affecting how long you can stay on the battlefield attacking enemies.

I see what you are saying tho with survivability. The problem is that the health bar on any general drops really quickly below 50%, which greatly nerfs the damage the units do. My point is that Washington’s survivability is not enough to justify buying him over Suvorov, who is more versatile, or Lannes who does more damage over all. Another thing to consider is that Washington is not good at destroying Cavarly units, whereas Lannes is.

I will go for Washington. Even if you don't upgrade him to emperor, when the generals are at the same rank Washington still has a higher combined battle and infantry so he gives more attack to the unit he is placed on.

That’s true, that alone makes Washington a better option than Suvorov. At the end of the day I guess its just based on preferences. If you want someone good at wrecking everything, get Lannes. If you want someone who is good at surviving and the best at killing infantry and cannons get Washington. If you want someone who can attack on two different tiles, in addition to hitting harding and getting a morale boost once in a while, get Suvorov!

Suvorov is arguably one of the best Inf generals when fighting with two Inf Masters nearby (in my case Massena and Barclay). And all that because of a critical damage. It is really enormous. The highest damage I saw in the game (340) was delivered exactly by Suvorov. Iron cross makes wonders for him.

On the other hand Washington has the same attacking potential and somewhat better defense. My opinion that Inspiration and Mountain fighting are hardly worse than Washington's two defensive skills (especially Ambush, which triggers exceptionally rare in the game). But I agree it is a matter of a taste in the end. Russians will prefer Suvorov, - our national hero, while Americans undoubtedly will hire Washington - one of the founding fathers of USA But objectively speaking 3 best Inf generals (when fighting together) are Massena, Barclay and Karl. As individuals their are inferior to such beasts like Washington or Suvorov. But when they support each other, they simply can smash all around them. I had Massena and Barclay and Suvorov and Lannes (probably the best general in the game in terms price/quality), but now I understand that 3 Inf masters are a better and more deadly combination of Inf generals...

Auras in this game is just so far ahead of other skills when it comes to the effect they have on team performance. Definitely the highest output when you can stack 3 auras together. I chose to only have 2 because I usually find myself requiring to peel off infantry to support another front so prefer a gen that can fight stand alone, Washington fulfill that role very well. Suvorov’s flexibility would also do really well in this role too with two terrain skills and general damage skills.

Looks like im gonna have to start upgrading him Asap.

This is my Lannes once fully upgraded. He is really really powerful. Every good general in the game once fully upgraded is really powerful . But I agree Lannes is a great Infantry general. All his skills are great. And, as we know he is cheap. I think Lannes and John are two best generals in the game when we compare price and quality... But Ney and Alexander are close...
