Soviet advantage was only 2:1. Alamo, Wizna, Killer Hill, Rorke's Drift, Thermopylae, Szigetvar were battles from 10:1 to 40:1. Warsaw was VERY important battle with small chance of winning, but not last stand.

May I ask why Sakarya was a "last stand"? I know the Greek Army was just infront of Ankara but Atatürk had much more casualties and less soldiers (96k Turkish and 120k Greek).

The battle of Wizna. They were outnumbered 1:59 I believe and still survived for multiple days. Battle of kurland kettle( in Latvian kurzemes katls) it was epic battle between Latvians and USSR they holded for two weeks after Germany's falling, so they could show that they are not with Germany and aren't with USSR. USSRs only intention was to get Baltic states under their control. In Kurland's kettle partizan forces where 1 to 50-65 and they eventually got out of ammo if they had had allied support they would have fought much longer because that fought for their countries (Baltic states).

On many maps of WW2 there's a little bit of Kurland in axis colour and I always wondered why the Russians didn't defeat them. Thanks for explanation

Thanks for explanation Actually all of the Baltic States where in allied(as they where trying to make Baltic entente) side until USSR annexed Baltic States started winter war with Finland and with Germany attacked and occupied Poland. And after war nobody was trying to help to free Baltic States until 80ies when there was a moral support from communities (Baltic nation exodus) in allied countries and Sweden and Australia. Baltic states made their freedom in Baltic way(in Latvian baltijas ceļš)

I believe Latvia was even one of the (if not the first) country to acknowledge the existence of Poland (as a country after the collapse of the USSR)
