I was reading through a thread and I saw Stoic reference Mike Duncan’s “Storm before the Storm”. This is first of all a great book. Mike Duncan, from 2008-2012 ran a podcast called “The History of Rome”. This podcast grew to amass a relatively large following. After Rome fell (Anno 476 if we are talking about the sacking of Rome), he ended the podcast. Another podcaster started where Mike Duncan had left off and began the History of the Byzantine Empire. I have not personally listened to this podcast, but my father, whom I would consider to be an amateur scholar of Roman history, has talked about it and given it high praise.
Mike Duncan, in 2013, began a podcast titled “Revolutions”. The course of the podcast (Which still continues today) takes you through an incredibly detailed journey through the English Civil War/Revolution (Least knowledgable of all of them :/) all the way through the Paris Commune and the Revolution/taking back of France in 1871. I highly HIGHLY suggest you take a look at both of these podcasts as they have something for everyone. I have gained extensive knowledge of European history through his podcast and it has grown to truly be something I look forward to.
Thank you Stoic for mentioning the book. By the end of the Revolutions podcast, I promise that you will have memorized Harry’s mission to give guys a comfortable shave, what a Casper mattress is, and that Audible is truly the historian and reader’s best friend.
